Airtronics MT4 Drop Down By GridRC

Folks,
Just helped bilster44 out with his steering wheel question.
The gap between the wheel and the clamshell is supposed to be about 1 to 1.5mm, but some wheels are thinner and placing the wheel almost against the shell. Also the wheel foam may be thicker than the wheel as well.
Quick solution is to use one or two fiber/phenolic washer from a brushed motor on the wheel control shaft, before screwing down the steering wheel. Each washer is 0.5mm thick, so no more than two is needed.

I had no trouble installing this crown jewel for transmitters...but the actual "depth" of some of the steering wheels can vary. So the very nice person (Ron) at GRID called me and told me that the wheel obviously had to be spaced out a little bit on the shaft. He mentioned that the phenolic spacer washers on the old brushed stock motors will work the very best...and they sure do too. With my wheel I used two of them. Now the steering wheel is perfect and away from the clam shell face as it is supposed to be. Her is a pic, and I will send a couple more a little bit later on.

To cure my rubbing problem I Dremel off .5 of the foam on the wheel and worked like a charm. Action feels smooth. Pics tomorrow. Ron you guys did a great job with it!!!! I will be racing with it tomorrow.

I just got mine and my Radio has an after market aluminum steering wheel that is one piece. So there is no wheel travel adjustment guid and the shaft from the radio is to small to fit. Any body know where I can buy a replacement steering wheel and adjustment plate. Or any other solutions?
Thanks

Many thanks to all customers that supported the MT4 drop down project. It started off a year ago from a member request, but lack of interested got put off, and second time around same. But the third time, the interest was definitely there but for those that take the MT4 as a serious race radio that lacked a drop down.
We made sure that the drop down looked at home when mounted on the MT4 but yet still easy to install and provided performance being fully responsive.
Looking forward to your pics...

Very easy to install and the new ergonomics are great. I like the weight too.
The links inside rub just a little bit to notice. Put just a dab of grease inside, hopefully using it more will remove the small rubbing. Have to post pics later.

As for grease, we don't recommend any. The links are held in tension to give you zero backlash and are semi floating for maximum sensitivity.
If you must use grease, test the grease with just the linkage on the shell. If the linkage does not fall off when inverted upside down, then the grease is too thick and you will have stiction and lose sensitivity.
