Dunno about all the other brands out there ('cept CrampAmps) but with all the issues that occur with GensAce, I'm passing from here on out.
I may find similar issues with other brands, but, it's a risk no matter what you buy. We do not live in a perfect world, but, I do expect good customer service if I have a problem.
My current favorite battery supplier is SMC. I have 3 of their packs with no issues. They balance perfectly every time and talk about customer service...... they are the GOLD standard should you need anything.
Yep, cost more than GensAce, but, most batteries do other than some crappier batteries....... names to be withheld :)

Same here, my Venom shortys will be here next week. That sucks, I like Venom packs but was really looking forward to these Gens Ace packs

My nearly new Gen's Ace 4S 5000mAh lipo puffed last race and haven't come back to it's normal size. This pack has 5 cycles on it, was always stored at 3.8v per cell and wasn't overheated/overcharged. Cells are perfectly balanced. Voltage cutoff is set to 3.2v/cell on my ESC. Is there any warranty service provided by HobbyPartz? I wouldn't expect warranty return if it happened after a couple of races but this pack is nearly new......

I got the new 5000mah 65c 2s2p pack and is seeing balancing problem early on with only 4 cycles. seems like voltage drop under load is uneven between cells :cry: it's off by consistent .03 volts under 1amp discharge.

Any more updates on ETA or Vaporware?

This seams to be normal for thses packs with the first few cycles I bought the same pack as the one you mentioned and it was the same thing with mine. But it goes away with time my pack stays balanced 100% now it took about 3 weeks racing with it before it corrected it self.

Ran my new Gen Ace 5000 40c in stock truck last wknd. Packs were perfect and took me to a 2nd place finish. Also ran 4800 25c saddles in my 4wd. Again ran solid all day. I am sold on the quality of these esp. for the price tag. :-)

I've just ordered 2 Gens Ace 2S2P 7000mAh 50C batteries.

I had some bad luck with my Venom 35c 4S after 3 months, it started swelling.

I have a year old Venom 20c 2S that has been holding up. Venom was very good about replacing the 4S (it still had over 14 volts after its last run). I also use a Venom Pro Charger which had the cooling fan break, I called them and they asked if I was comfy fixing it myself, I said yes, then they shipped me out the part for free.

I was going to give Gens a shot for their prices but I see a lot of problems here and it may not be worth it IMO.

I run Gens Ace exclusively because of the price and the performance. Is a 45 dollar investment in a great battery not worth a shot compared to 100's for others? I ran with guys who work for Hobby Partz and are sponsered by Gens and they took the top three spots in our points race in Expert 2wd SCT mod and stock.

sounds good! the power this pack delivers is pretty good. I do see noticeable increase in punch over the GA 40c pack and maybe a little more top end too from my 17.5:lol:

They are def punchy I was surprised with mine great packs. The performance for the money is hard to beat I bought a revtech 6000 mah for twice the price and it was slower than the gens ace needless to say I sold the revtech.

Does anyone charge above the rated 1C with any issues? I currently charge all my gens batteries at 1C but would like to go to about 1.5C

I started with 4 Gen Ace 4s 5000mah packs, two new and two with 4 cycles on them. I also bought two new 2s 5000mah packs. Got one of the new 4s and 2s packs left now, the others have died afte less than a dozen cycles. I opened the cases and found the tabs connecting the cells are very thin and poorly soldered and just aren't holding up to offroad racing. Not likely I'll ever buy another battery from them, better off to pay more and get a battery that will hold up.
