Default lighting question

OK so I'm not only new here but relatively new to the hobby as well.... recently I got this awesome 1:10 Maisto lamb... promptly threw away the ni-mh battery and put a 7.2 1800 lipo with a 20c... it still was rrrreeeeaaaaallllllyyyyyyy slow, so I started the break down and quickly discovered the conversion to hobby electric will be really smooth... the car is light enough that my rc18t electronics will turn it into an awesome drifter.... even came with the right rubber for the job.... my issue lies in the lighting..... this came with headlights taillights and a well lit engine bay easily seen through the clear cover over the engine plate.... I'm looking for advice on how to power these 6 leds after I throw out the b.s. board that Maisto put in this nice lambo... thank you

Depends on the LEDs, whether there is any current limiting/voltage control in the board you want to throw out. Can you measure the voltage going to the LEDs?

Might be possible to power them from the receiver if the voltages match up. Or if not an adjustable BEC or similar voltage regulator might be the ticket.

I haven't had the opportunity to measure the voltage yet... but there must be some form of controller on it... Maisto kinda impressed me with this one, not only is it hobby grade compatible but the lights are controlled by a switch on the radio.... they have off/on/and high beam... so much effort to make a quality toy, and they give it "bang bang" spring return steering and a five dollar circuit board made in middle school shop...

High beams, that's hilarious. What, no turn signals, or maybe 4-way hazards for when you need marshaled?

Here's one possible big boy toy approach:

DELight Controller

DeLight Starter Kit

Note they have other lighting stuff, look on the left side part way down.
