Schuur Speed Spec Class Motors

I had the privilege to meet and pit next to Ron this weekend at the Jconcepts race in St Louis and this guy is the real deal, I was not even running his products and he was more than willing to help me with motor setup and other questions I had. I did get to see some of his 17.5 motors run and I am going to be switching over. I not sure you will find anyone else in this industry with the kind of support he gives with his products, all weekend he was busy taking support emails and helping racers around the country running his motors while putting up with me bugging him I still cant believe the quality and price he offers for his products wish there were more people like him in this industry. im running the 17.5t v3 in 2wd rear buggy with viper vtx10black esc in blinky, and wondering if it would be better to use endbell timing for top end and say fdr of 5.85 with 45deg or should i drop to lower 5's, ie: 5.2 and reduce motor timing to 20-35.
cheers

17.5 v3
I picked one of these up today and wanted to get some base info on gearing/timing. It's going into a desc210r mm. Track is rainmans in Bakersfield. Straght about 50-60ft. The rest is pretty tight/technical. Most locals have been running 78 and 76t spurs. The durango has option of 78 and 75. What are these motors happy with heat wise? I'd rather have mild to mid gearing to keep the motor from fading towards the end. Any imput is greatly appreciated.
