Running sensored setup without the cable?
#1
I have a Speedpassion 17.5 Ultra Sportsman V3 and a Hobbywing Justock ESC, I want to know if I run them without the sensored cable?
Is this going to cause any damage to either component?
TIA,
Ron

It will run fine (I'm assuming that the Hobbywing automatically switches over to sensorless like the Speed Passions do). It'll cog when you start out, but once the motor starts spinning, it'll be fine and it won't be any slower (unless you were running boost).

If you don't hook up the cable, your sensorless, period. I don't like the waiting for it to find the rotor when your marshalled, and we have a high speed straight, with a 90 at the end, I took my castle out when every 3rd lap it would accelerate for a split second when I hit the brakes, because the esc is guessing wrong where the rotor is. You won't have much problem outside, but indoors your going to wear the walls out from hitting them. I put a GTB2 in one of my trucks, with a D3 17.5, turned 3 notches of timing and love the results, precision brakes and pinpoint throttle. no fatom spinouts
