Default Connecting motor & ESC?

I just got a Castle Creations Sidewinder Sv2 ESC and brushless motor combo. I'm having a heck of a time connecting the 3 wires! The male ends will go in about 1/8 of an inch, but that's it. I've tried wiggling back and forth, twisting...even wrapped the wires in electrical tape and used pliers a little. I'm not a weakling, but I cannot get the connectors together for the life of me. They're TIGHT! What's the secret here?

They're tight. Push harder.

Did you check to see if there are any obstructions in their female connectors? (I doubt you would have three at one time).

Nope, no obstructions....and I cannot push any harder, literally. These things are tight to the point where they just will not go further. I'll try pliers here again in a bit.

This has been asked about before...if the male ends are the umbrella type, be careful with pliers and crimping, you can break the blades. You can use some heat shrink and once they're inserted as far as they'll go, shrink the heat shrink over the connectors so any bare metal is covered.

I have an older Sidewinder and the female must be too short - they will not fully accept anything I've tried, I did the shrink and its been fine.
