Default How much attena to expose

Hi all,

I have a D8 hara, but this is more of a general question. I have a futaba 614FF and have about half of the coax cable in the box.

My question is how much of the cable should I have exposed out of the box? Right now my atennna is flush with the top of the head. Should I make it higher? Does exposed cable affect range?

Thanks

The height your at should be fine. The only issue with any coax style antenna is that you don't want to bend/kink it or coil it excessivley tight.

Maximizing the amount of RX antenna you have in line with your transmitter antenna is the best way to get maximum range. With 2.4Ghz radios, the two antennae must be parallel for maximum signal exposure and clarity. That being said, most tracks are small enough that the amount you have vertical in your car now is certainly sufficient so long as you keep your Tx antenna vertical as well via the swivel joint. "Exposed" antenna has nothing to do with it. Most parts on an RC car are radio translucent anyway.
