Is the old switch just as good as the newly released 2011 version? I found a new one locally. I don't need the lipo cutoff or lights.

A little off topic (still KO), but I personally witnessed that servo accidentally get left in failsafe mode for 15 minutes, get so hot the radio tray plastics were hot to the touch and still run an A-main with no problems.

Now THAT's just silly.

We'll see how long it lasts the rest of this season. If it doesn't die, I'll be happy to spend the $200.

Default Cool

I usually set my fail safe to gently tap the brakes, and honestly never had those problems....I turn off my good ol futaba switch that costs 10 bucks....

The fail safe position wasn't the point.

I was trying to show the quality of the servo, that's all. Whatever.

Anyway, I'll post a pic of my switch once it's installed.

Hi Dave,
i can't put a picture up for you but this is how i mounted mine in my mbx6T

I used a mugen PT holder because the holes line up perfectly, drilled some holes in the reciever box lid and screwed in on top from inside the lid..i also trimed the posts were the PT usually mounts to the radio tray so the switch didn't sit too high.
This method may be a bit close to the body of a buggy looking at the space available in my mbx6...with the 2 mounting lugs on the switch being were they are it wouldn't allow me to mount it straight to the lid like i was hoping to.

if you can mount your PT somewere else thats the perfect spot for it.

My brain hurts after reading your post.

the lead to the battery is quite short, i drilled a hole for the battery lead to stick of the box from so i can unplug it without unscrewing the battery box lid...but it is just long enough to fit the plug inside the box also.

On the lipo cut off switch, trying to push down on the rubber button does not work, you have to remove the rubber botton to access the cut off using something to push down the switch inside the case.

Did you fall for that one to yeah it seems to be like a dust cover and you need to poke something down there to activate the lipo cutoff switch...funny they even give you a spare plug incase you lose one which wouldnt be that hard to do.
I like these switches but wish they were smaller as would be so much easier to find a spot for it especially on buggies as we seem to be getting less and less room these days.

I heard that these switches can drain your battery faster than usual. Has anyone noticed this?

yes Mal, pushing and nothings happening I guess having it that way you can't accidently switch it on or off when reaching under the body for the switch... were did you mount yours?

draining more power? leds use very little power so i doubt its much.

what i can't figure is why a battery like a Life or Lipo can't be left plugged in if the switch is off how or what is still draining power?

Im guessing that the switch is PIC based, and is always on (sleep mode) waiting for you to press the on button. this will drain the battier in time. im also guessing that its not going to check for voltage levels while its a sleep. (could be a problem for LIPO's)

Size wise, it would be nice to have something smaller, but im also guessing (i know i do a lot of guessing) that it has a capacitor, or a bunch of FETs that are powered to give you a constant output voltage if this is the case, not sure why they didnt have a voltage regulator included. Ive looked at making something like this, but for the price this switch is cheap.

Dave

p.s still would be nice to see some pic's....hope to have mine soon.

Mate I noticed your from NZ. I'm in Aus and want to order one of these switches but it looks like you can't order from KO PROPO directly. Where did you order yours from?
