Yes, consider buying a POS at the detriment of your LHS, and your struggling economy. Consider it well.......

It is because of the struggling economy that many people are and will be attracted to the cheap 2.4 systems from Hobbyking and Hobbypartz. Not everyone has the money to drop on a $100+ radio that requires $50+ receivers. From what I've heard they have about the same reliability as the super expensive radios. So why not save some money!

Hmm thats funny, I have been running my flysky/redcat racing/exceed/whatever gt2 radio at the track for the past year and not one person has had any problems. So please don't be spreading bad info unless you can back it up

I can't comment on the quality of that radio as I have never even seen it, much less used it.

However, I do have a radio theory. Buy the best one you can possibly afford.

Many parts are short lived and disposable. So it make sense to try and save money on things like tires, bodies, motors, etc. when you are having to replace them all the time anyway. But a good radio should last you for many years, perform better than the cheapest ones, go in many cars, etc. etc. It is not the best place to skimp, so go for the best one you can afford.

So if $17 is all you can afford, give it a shot. If you actually have a job, get something else.

If somebody is struggling so hard that they feel the need to purchase a cheap POS $17 radio, perhaps RC should take a backseat to putting food on the table.

Sure go ahead with a piece of $hit 2.4 ghz radio and you'll find yourself with a nice paper weight later.

Honest reply and I don't mean to sound like a dink. Just because YOU can't tell the difference between a $35 radio and a $300 one doesn't mean there isn't a difference. My guess would be that you're not a racer either, which is fine and all the more reason not to buy a $200-$300 radio.

Im not a racer but if i was i would buy a good radio. But im sick of hearing guys say it's junk when it's not. It's a good radio for bashers.I just ordered a onroad and if i like it and start racing it i will buy a name brand radio.

In the end guys, does it matter if you spend $20 or $300 as long as your happy with what you got? What's wrong with spending $20 on a radio and racing with it if you're just a weekend racer? Sure, if you're really serious about it buy the expensive radio. If you're just out to have some fun and not break the bank, buy the cheap radio. There might be a difference, but I would bet the average racer/basher isn't going to be able to tell the difference.
