Hey guys just picked up an LPF GT2.0 carbon esc for my new losi 22. I just didnt feel like spending 200+ on another brand and Ive heard great things about SP. Now can this version be upgraded in terms of software? And how many drive profiles does it have? Ive had the best luck with LRP in the past and Im hoping to have the same smoothness here. Plus the smaller footprint of this esc will be good because theres not much room under the shell on the car. very tight space.
Any other feedback is good to hear, Im new to the brand. |
Hey Guys,
JP checking in here. Please feel free to PM me or post on the forum any questions you might have. My setups from the JC race that are on the website is a good starting point. You might want to turn the punch down a couple levels and the drag brake though, the track was SUPER high bite so all the punch and drag brake was manageable. I will try and make a good overall track condition setup this weekend. Thanks!! |
I am running the 1212 stock software and I was wondering what a good starting point was on the esc settings and gear ratio for an AE T4 with a Novak Velociti 13.5. The track is indoor, med to high bite, lap times in the 17 second range. Timing is allowed.
Thanks, Ifuonlyknew |
You could start with the default settings. They seem to be middle of the road.
I would start at 9-8 12-7 13-3 14-5 15-2 Those settings are bit dialed down from what I used with SP17.5 v3. I swore I read somewhere the Novaks have alot of physical timing out the factory. So you may want to dail some back. Maybe somene else can add to this. Gearing 84/22-21? Keep eye on motor temps.:tire: |

Yes, you can change software/firmware, you do need the optional LCD programmer: http://www.speedpassion.net/en/produ...=SPLCD01&c=OPT The latest V1.35 firmware package is under the download tab: http://www.speedpassion.net/en/produ...02PROscb&c=ESC Note there is a mod version of the boost software, and a no timing (aka blinky) version too in there. Video on updating (it’s the last one): http://www.speedpassion.net/en/video.asp Many load it twice just to be sure, there have been reports of it not updating correctly/completely on the first pass, although that issue may be fixed, I’m not sure. Redo the ESC to radio calibration after changing software. And then after turn up the throttle EPA some, there have been cases of radio drift causing the supercharger deal to not engage, it needs full throttle to be completely open and held. Some setups: http://www.speedpassion.net/en/produ...02PROscb&c=ESC |

Hi everyone, I'm stoked I found this thread.... I just recently bought the Speed Passion Silver Arrow 1/8 V2.0 ESC and Cirtix 2200kv Brushless motor combo for my RC8..... I'm new to the electric scene (started off with nitro) so I was wondering what is a good setup for this and what kind of gearing should I use?
Also is the esc upgradeable and what all do I need to do so? Any tips or info. etc would be greatly appreciated... Thanks |

Thanks ESC is updatable, once we have the need for better software, we will release it to the public free of charge. But you do need the LCD Programmer box to connect the ESC to computer in order to do adjustment and future software/firmware update. http://www.speedpassion.net/us/produ...=SPLCD01&c=OPT Here is our driver setup for SAII with 2200 slotless motor on Losi 8ight II Final drive = 11.3 to 11.8 Fan on motor if possible. Speed Power 4S Lipo Running Mode: Forward with brake (always recommand use mechanical braking with braking servo) Drag Brake Force: 0% (or 5% the most) Lipo cut off: 3.0V per Cell DRRS: Level 5 Max Brake Force: 75% Max Reverse Force: 25% Initial Brake Force: 0% Neutral Range: 6% AMTS Timing: 0* Overheat protection: Disable Motor rotation: CCW (depends on your car too) Lipo cells: Auto Calculate Let us know the result....thanks and good luck. |

Yeah, the ‘stock’ boost firmware isn’t really intended for those motors. Have you tried the mod boost? (528mod if I remember) Did you gear down any when you tried boost (either one)?
Have 528mod loaded in one of my speedos but have not been able to get to a track and try it.....when I tried boost I geared way down....and added boost and gear to try to get the feel I'm lookin for........its nice to have a private test day at the track |
Thanks for the reply, I will def. try that setup and be on the lookout for the SAII setups on the site...
Just a few other questions, the mechanical braking servo I never heard of (sorry for the ignorance), have a link of ones your talking about? And is there a benefit to disabling the motor heat detection? I would love to put a fan on my motor but I am using the tekno conversion and the way the motor mount is setup I am unable to do so, is it a must to add the fan? And as far as the lcd program box it looks like you guys are out of stock, do you know when you'll possible have them back in stock? Thanks |
Im not messing with any software when I install it. Im just going to run it as is for now. I know its got adjustability but Im hoping the throttle response is smooth as its going into a 2wd buggy, and smoothness is everything on those vehicles

Mechanical brakes like a nitro has. Instead of using the ESC and motor to provide the brakes like a typical electric RC does. Reduces the load and heat on both.

Rob Landers Do you have the program card? If so hook it up and under programmable value #2 which is Running mode. Select option #1 Forward w/brake (no reverse"). Why are you running sensorless? No advantage there. Manual is below. http://www.speedpassion.net/uploadfi...ay27th2010.pdf |
