A fellow visited our track recently and had a ptx transponder. Our AMBRC system wouldn't read it. We are using B&B autoscore software. I did look it over and saw that it was plugged in correctly, and the blue light was lit up. Anyone else have this happen or have any adeas for me? This racer says the transponder works fine at another track he races at.??????

Did the system work with other MRT's
Just a warning to tracks that MLaps has found a way to make the MRT's not work with the Upgrade they do or if you get the new mylaps system

Regarding the problem you mention above, it's possible for a transponder to have a fault where the LED lights up but no signal is transmitted which can be confusing, as can other unusual problems with AMB/MyLaps/MRT transponders. Various other 'transponder not counting' issues are possible, some are more common than others. A broken lead/wire or bad plug/socket connection can cause intermittent operation resulting in missed laps or simply not counting any laps at all. Where the problem is the lead/connection the LED will not light up or may flicker, it's also possible to go dim due to being 'starved' of power by a high current draw from a servo etc. In the particular instance you linked to posted on another thread it's another unrelated problem to do with AMBrc ID numbers and the new MyLaps system/MyLaps RC4 'hybrid' transponders having backwards compatibility with the older AMBrc/AMBrc3 decoders.
What version of the transponder system do you have Is it the New Mylaps or have you had it upgraded from Mylaps

There can be problems with numbers not working. The AMBrc system and the MyLaps system both use the same system numbers. System numbers get recycled and reused after transponders have been back to AMB/MyLaps for upgrade, replacement, trade in etc. System numbers at times also can end up getting blocked due to an error, the same transponders sent in for repair and meant to be scrapped are returned instead of new replacements with new numbers.
As Ed suggests try changing the ID number (this is possible with MRT PTX transponders) the numbers can be changed to another stored number or with custom ID's reset to another system number.

Larry,
I've tried my own PTX's at 2 local tracks with the AMBrc decoder... both using AutoScore. My own micro track there are about 8 PTX's (mine is the only clone)... this is an AMBrc3 system running AutoScore. And there is another local track using an rc3 decoder... it could be a MyLaps...running rcscoringpro... probably more then 15 there... none of us are having problems.
How was the transponder mounted? I've seen them mounted every way... but AMB, MRT, and MyLaps all recommend them laying flat.
Myself,.. I keep a 4 cell holder handy. If anybody asks they can plug in and run just the pt over the loop... eliminates every thing else.

Seems there is a newer MRT model, can anyone confirm if this works with my laps RC4?

It's supposed to work, but who knows if it will next year, or the year after.
It's not that much cheaper, so why bother.
