So can someone explain what makes the black edition, special aside from the black case? I mean it says;
the bec is stronger, yet has the same specs as other vtx10 the all aluminum case has been redesigned to be even smaller, same specs as other vtx10 v-link compatiable, which i thought the other vtx10 was? focus on 2s, same specs as other vtx10 just took 3s capabilities off the box ..... Not trying to bash viper by any means. Just prior to being released it seemed like a very different version of the vtx10. Now thats it's released the specs make it seem unchanged. |
Yes, the specs are similar - the BE is only designed for 2s while the original VTX can handle limited 3s applications. yes the size is slightly smaller since the cap board is not on top of the BE, gives us a little less hight.
Outwardly the cases have not changed much, its internally where the circuit board is that has changed. That re-design (a little different way to build a mouse a trap) was based on the making sure the BEC was strong, one area that can be weak in any speed control these days. In our best efforts to make the circuit stronger we moved needed bigger caps, hence the move off the board. BTW you can get a larger capacitor cap for the original VTX, which will help improve its BEC (all new ones come with it). So they don't look different but under the hood there are some differences between 2011 and 2012 units. The body style is similar the inner workings have been updated. So we released a 2nd version of the unit (just as others have), we aren't making you take yours apart and update it your self, just came out with an update. Customers have the option to purchase which ever they like. If you were running a 550 motor or a touring car - I would go with a BE, running stock buggy or SC = either would work, your choice. Like the look of having all the capacitors in one place - get the VTX. Options, Options, Options. All designed to help you go faster, smoother at a good price. |
Dang already have a new vtx10 on the way wish the BE was listed when i orderd o will there's always next year...lol

The VTX10 is great.

Are the Copperhead systems decent for 2wd SCT's? Seems like they weremeant for 4x4 depending what you read on the web.

silvalis- did you re-bind the esc to the radio? After the update, and the setting changes, nothing? If its the same thing that happen before - were their any common items used (battery, receiver)? Even wires (if bad plug or connector). Worked with the VLink for several weeks before it was released and never found that type of problem.
This time there weren't any common items - ESC had been disconnected from the rx and motor, different battery used, wires were the ones I had put on in March. thanks for your help |
Only after firmware update?

How about making a heatsink that you can screw a fan on to? LIke the O esc but for viper? Im interested in the esc but I really do want to put a fan on it especially in 4WD mod.
|
You can buy the fan bracket ($20)- it basically goes around the esc and holds the fan above.
|
I have seen that but still like the idea of having it attached to the esc
What connection does the fan use? AS I see that there is a plug hole by the sensor plug hole. How far over the esc does it hold it? Can it be adjusted? Maybe I could get a few threads of a screw to fin in the small fins Has anyone tried one in a durango 410.. they don't have a lot of air flow thats what Im concerned about. |
I've got one on the way, can chuck it into my 410 and see if it fits.
|
Its definately going to fit its just the heat issure Im wondering about. Ive asked on the 410 page as well see what they say
|
If you gear and run the unit properly, you don't need the fan kit for the 410 buggy. Travis runs as fast as any of the pros out there and doesn't use a fan on the buggy. Know if you are talking about the 410 SC - same thing applies but you can fit the fan on easily because there is no body restriction.
|
You only need to re-bind with the radio after you update the firmware. Like going from a30 to a55. If just adjusting throttle freq, no you don't have to.
