Any help on gearing for a TC6 with 17.5 motor, stock t/a rubber tires.. tight inner section on track but 2 big long sweepers.. What FDR should I shoot for.. Have tried 3.5-4 before.. Am I in the ballpark?

Jim,

Are you running a No Boost class? If yes then 3.5 to 3.8 seems to be were most end up. Last race I ran a 17.5 No boost class with a D3 17.5 BL motor and was around 3.7. It was a good starting point for me, I might play around a little more from there.

Was that with a Viper ESC? What were your ESC settings? Did you just use stock no-boost built-in profile?

What was your motor timing at?

Did you have a heatsink and/or fan on the motor?

Jim: You're probably in the right range, especially if you're not overheating the motor.

Yes, Viper VTX10R or whatever the no limit version is. I will check later tonight, I am work now. Jenkins Jr. actually helped set it up, but it was blinky.

It's a viper esc in blinky mode.. 17.5 no timing.. Heard the motors like to be geared tall..
I have a heatsink on it.. May get a fan in near future also..

At the Hangar I ended up running a 3.56 FDR. It was peeling stickers for sure. I was running a mid amount of timing, do not recall the exact amount though.
