Savox Servos

Quick Question ..
I am looking at picking up the 1257 or 1258, for use in a Touring Car - 17.5 Spectrum Radio, which servo would you recommend, they are pretty close in specs.
Also, running a 2s Lipo, would I need a power cap? I run the Futaba 9551 currently without any issues.

Nope. They store charge.
Nope. They just act as a temprary source of voltage to smooth out the bumps that would otherwise occur in the power supply (which would distort the output).
when amperage is drawn from a source (battery) in huge amounts, (hungry servo's) the voltage or potential decreases, and could shut down the receiver, giving it finicky performance, or delayed response.
if your into car audio, and bass systems, and huge stereo setups, cap's, batt. caps.. are very common due to the amp draw from large amplifiers drawing current for its equipment. capacitors store the extra vars needed to support the watts needed to move the current.

B-Stream,
I would go with the slightly faster 1257. I don't think that you would benefit from the extra torque as much as the extra speed. An offroad truck trying to hold a line in a bumpy corner would benefit from the extra torque, not you. (IMO)

do not do it you will burn them out

you have to run a cap in your esc i run 2 and if your running more then 2s you will need a ubec to power your rx and servos as the ecs can not stay at 6.6 volts and jumps because of the bigger lipo

My 1258 doesn't work with my Spectrum receiver unless I connect a capacitor (cap) into an empty slot on the rx. Then it works fine. The cap smooths out the power drain that the servo requires. Spectrum sells them for 5 or 6 $.
td-civ,
What do you mean by an esc cap? Are we talking about the same thing or is your capacitor wired into the esc? Are you running 2 on one esc/rx? If so, how do you connect them?

but if your running more the 2s lipo you need a ubec to power your rx less drain then pluging in a cap in your rx

td-civ,
I still don't understand what an esc cap is. I know that many, if not all esc's, come with capacitors as part of their design. Are you wiring in extra capacitors directly to the esc? How is that done? Are you talking about the capacitors that you plug into the rx, which is what I am familiar with. How do you plug two in? Is there an extra wiring harness you need to buy? Why do you use two, or what is your set up that requires two caps?

if you know how car audio works it works the same way its so when you go full tilt the battery will dorp abit and what happen is the rx will power out because the power is all going to the motor this way with the cap it wont drop and the rx wont power

When people are talking about caps for the receiver, they have electric cars. Does this still apply to nitro? I raced a car a few months ago that had Savox servos in them, and I simply installed my Spektrum DX3S radio and receiver, and I didn't have any problems. So I bought the 56 and 58, but don't want to have this problem with my DX3R now. Should I be fine, or still install the cap?

the 65 and 58 are 6 volt servo's if your goin to run a rx lipo pack you will need to run a ubec to step it down to 6 volts
