It has same spline as futaba (25t). The 2 drawbacks I noticed are 1: It's noisy 2: It's power hungry. It doesn't get better after use but it will not get any worse, good news is I can't hear it once I put the body on and put the truck on the track. Hope it works out for you. ;)

Ive been running the re-badged Orion equivalent to the 1258TG for my throttle, and 1256TG on my steering on my 8ight for over a year. And I got them both used. I have not had a single problem with either. I just dropped a 1258TG in my SC10 last month and it is great. AND I am running all Spektrum radio gear. I am about to put two 1267MGs in my 8ight so I can run LIPO. I now swear by these servos.
Who really cares how noisy a servo is? Like whats the big deal? You can't hear them from more than 5 ft anyway in electric. And with Nitro ones the car starts all you can hear is the motor. Just wondering why everyone has a problem with sound? |

Ok, I just got back from my first run with my 1258tg in my sc10 and I love it. I didn't have any glitching or draining of battery either.

Interesting to me that most all the complaints come from the Spektrum radio users... doesn't Savox make the Spektrum servos? I know they make Align servos which have been flawless for me, even with a Spektrum Heli system.
As for the noise, the noisiest servo I have had was a hitec. It was super noisy... ALL the time.. that thing sucked! Haven't used that brand since. My 1257TG was a little noisy when I installed it in my b44, but only when sitting at center. I did some work removing the little bit of bind I had in the steering and now it's quiet as a sleeping babe. Super power and ultra fast. No complaints at all. If you have a spektrum radio, do yourself a favor and get the glitch buster for your Rx. I have futaba and have had absolutely no troubles. It's noisy because its trying to center itself or is still getting a slight signal from your radio. Check trims... check radio wheel smoothness and spring tension... check linkage freedom... its not the servo. |
I run mine with only Spetrum radio gear, but I only run nitro so I don't have the big electric motor drawing a ton of power off the battery.

They perform excellent. Damn near too fast. |

Yeah, I know... I generally don't like to bash other company's stuff, but that Hitec literally was the worst servo I ever had. It was SUPPOSED to be a High-speed servo with good 1/10 scale torque. It was in a XXX-BK2 that had super-free moving steering and that servo was sooooo sssslllloooowww and noisy to boot. It was noisy at neutral, noisier when it moved, it was so noisy we joked that it's chirping and screeching were an alien language. I eventually replaced it with a futaba and all was good. I put the Hitec in a rock crawler and destroyed it. Kinda fun.
Anyway, this is the Savox servo thread and I still say they are gold. very nice, very fast, and super-powerful. |
It's nice to seeing you guys are so happy with the product, instead of coreless motor servos, we are bringing out servos with brushless motors! We have been testing and they should be out sometime mid May.

yes the noise sucks but you dont hear it when the rc is on the track and for anyone that is running savox servo's just go out and buy a Spektrum Voltage Protector SPM1600 if your not running nitro you will never have any glitching and it will not drain your battery this is what i run in my rc on road team magic e4rs 09 1257tg team magic g4rs 09 1257 str 1251b/t (nitro) x-ray t2 008 1257tg crc gen x10 1257mg tamiya m05 1257tg off road 8t 2.0 nitro 1256tg str 1257tg t/b 8t 2.0 brushless 1256tg slash 4x4 1257tg best servo's on my book's |
Perhps you can answer this for me 8scale. It is my understanding that the brushless motors are more likely to incur damage from vibration in off-road racing situations. Given this and the fact that brushless servos tend to be larger than their coreless counter-parts, how do you justify the use of brushless servos in off-road surface applications? Are these drawbacks less significant than detractors are willing to admit? I also understand that brushless will run cooler than a coreless servo, to the point of no longer requiring heat-sinks in some cases. Is this enough to justify their use?
