Issue with Hitec HS7955TG

Something weird just happened today at the track, while I stopped to fuel up my 8t 2.0, the ft tires just turned full lock to the right for no reason what so ever and could not make them turn with the radio. so I pulled the body off and turned the rx off... turned it on... wheels centered ...10 seconds later BAMM full lock again!! WTF? did it two more times with same results, it turned the servo horn so far past my endpoints that it was hitting the wire support for the air cleaner,so I called it a day. When I got home I tried it again and again but could not get it to do it. I use a n Airtronics MX-3FG which is 10 months old and has worked flawlessly, the servo is 3 months old. the batts wre charged 2 hrs before going to the track. there were two other guys running their buggy's at the time but I don't see where that could have interfered, anybody have any ideas? this thing was acting like in the exorcist movie!!!

My 2-hour old 7940 just did this basically.
It passed one final radio test before firing.
Engine fired for about 2-seconds and the servo snatched WOT full-throw limit of the servo (beyond the EPA setpoint). I happened to catch the engine before it revved away too far; but she still wrapped hard and fast.
Now as soon as it has voltage it goes full-throw.
I reversed the channel in the radio and it does the same action in the reverse direction. Makes no attempt at centering or following any commands.
Hopefully Hitec follows through, but it seems they're having an abnormal number of servo failures lately with the digital family.

Never had one do that before. I'd check the servo on a different channel on your receiver or a different receiver just to make sure it isn't the receiver causing the problem. If it is indeed the servo, send it back to Hitec. They'll take care of ya!

Yea; I tested it multiple ways on other channels and receivers.
It's the servo.
We've had several Hitecs die locally, all from current production "new" digitals.
2- 7940's. 1- would center but randomly actuate. the other is mine, as described above.
Then a 4-hour old 7955 that did the same as the later 7940, where it would center, but only actuate for a short time then re-center and stop until torque was manually applied to the arm, then it would kick a couple times. Hitec sent a note back saying it was a motor failure in the servo.
I'm just glad mine didn't fail on the track and cause a runaway.

Yeah send it back...I have had 1 do this too but Hitec will most likely replace it or at least fix it in a timely manner. They have done it for me over the years even when one was out of warranty and I told them it was. Airtronics blamed me on a $140 servo that failed during it's first run and charged me $38 plus shipping to fix it and i sent the receipt.

I also have seen a recent issue with the hitec servos I have purchased.
Been using Hi-Tech for years and never ever had a issue. Ran the 5955 series and loved them, When the 79xx series came out I was stoked and got a set.... both failed on me. One just stopped working and the other all the teeth on the internal gears bent, or became wavey(if that makes sense).
Sent them back and got new ones in no time, but I am very worried now and dont have the confidence in them as I used to. Hi-Tech servos do carry a 3 year warranty wich is great, but I hope this set I have makes it past 3 months, as the last set did not.
