Default Slash 4x4 motor question

I blew my motor Sunday and it is not repairable for less than 50 dollars. I figured that a new/ better motor is around the 100 dollar mark. Please help me it what i should get. I will be using the stock speed control but want a better motor till I can afford a new ESC. Again this is for a slash 4x4 running a 2c lipo.

The Novak Ballistic 550 motors are available for a little over $100.

Stay away from 540 motors on the 4x4 (personal opinion)

Get a new stock motor $80 or so on ebay

Did you try to get a free replacement motor from Traxxas ?

Send it in and you may be lucky

Cheers

Thank you everyone who helped me. I decided to go with a stock motor again for the simple reason is that I don't have to buy all new pinions.
