It was that impressive, that I am considering replacing an older 2.1 Hobbywing esc in my other car with a Justock using the 509 software.

A note to those of you updating. The 509 software is only legal in the XR-10 putting it in the old Juststock, V2's or any other Hobbywing ESC makes them illegal at sanctioned events that require ROAR compliance. It is an easy check, just plug in a programmer.

How is the software not legal in older ESc's?

RoyB 02-29-2016 10:25 AM

On the Roar approved ESC list it says N/A under software version. For the extreme stock and v2.1 ESCs it specifies 508. It looks to me that 509 is legal in the justock. If not ROAR needs to change its approval list.

When you go to the download page which one is the "509" I don't see any 3 digit designation

Download the 2016 Jan version. I think that the 509 will only load onto justock
& XR10 Justock.

Thanks, that's what I did, just didn't see 509 anywhere, I have a justock.

You need to download the Jan 16 link software. Then when you hook up the ESC it will be in the list of firmware versions.

Did you click on firmware update after you hooked up esc?
I have done 2 with no problems.

You must have missed it or your update didn't work.

JayL 02-29-2016 04:53 PM

or you may need to update the program box, then update the esc

You are right about that. I believe ROAR missed this possibility. Oh well, go at it boys (On the Juststock that is).

Oh thank goodness for that, I had just swapped out my old Hobbywing 2.1 esc for a Justock with the 509 software installed.
One thing I noticed when I had my computer hooked up to the older 2.1 esc, is that there is no option in the drop down box to install 509, the only one that is there is 508. Has anyone else tried to put 509 onto a xtreme stock or 2.1 esc?
I suspect that 509 is locked in to the XR10 & Justock esc's only.

Anyway, replaced a older 2.1 esc with a Justock in a touring car, and I'm impressed. The Justock felt like it gave the car more grunt, and the motor ran cooler, with ambient temperature around 34C (98F?).
And it takes up waaaaay less space than the 2.1 :D

Cheers
