Default XP 200 "too hot"

Playing around with my bone stock RTR sc10, on my second go around I get introduced to the xp200 overheat protection mode. The motor/gearing/battery are all well within the range of operating so the only possible reason from the listed manual is from:

"Using full brakes too often"

Is that due to a stock rtr esc, or will I find my ecs constantly overheating from bash sessions that involve lots of braking. Going to move to a brushless setup, just didn't expect to find myself being held back from excessive braking.
