DX3s Telem with dx3r...
#1
Hi, sorta new to the 2.4 world. The dx3s sr3300t reciever will work with the dx3r being backward compatible on the dsm network, yes?, if so what is needed to start using the telemetry with dx3r, I believe you need to buy the seperate module is that correct?, also would it then be possible to watch rpm/speed, temp, battery voltage and the works or only some of the telem available? Help from someone in the know would be greatly appreciated.

I have a DX3S and honestly I find the telemetry pretty useless except for RX battery voltage. The temp sensor is not really that accurate for a nitro car, and I haven't bothered trying to setup the rpm sensor as it serves me no purpose. I found the temp sensor is accurate within 5 degrees up to about 200 and when my engine was running great, about 230-240 the telemetry read 330!! I might not have taken the time to move the sensor around to get an accurate reading, but when I'm racing I can't take time to look down at my radio anyway. Just my opinion, the DX3s is a great radio though.

You have to purchase this.
I thought you would be able to use the SR3300T with the dx3r and go, but no. It was a breaking point for me. Being able to use the dx3r and telemetry with the built in screen would have been a nice feature. But using that telemetry kit with the dx3r makes it no different from any other radio. So now I don't know which one I want.
As far as the SR3300T working with the dx3r for basic functions, I think it would. I wouldn't want to personally. I'm sure someone else will come in and answer that one who knows for sure shortly.

Receiver-
SR3000
SR3001
SR3300T
These are the ONLY Telemetry-compatible receivers
If You're using the SR3000 or SR3001 You will also need
SPM1325- On Board Module
The SR3300T has that integrated into it
From here you can pick up whatever sensors you'd like, or simply get the Nitro or Electric Telemetry Packs (SPM1300- Nitro, SPM1305- Electric). The telemetry pack will also include the SPM1325 on-board module and the sensors. It also comes with the hand held unit (SPM1320).
You may want to check out the video I did recently on how-to monitor the main battery pack voltage with the Spektrum Telemetry. It may help answer some of your questions as well.
