I have ran these for awhile and I just put them in, most motors have caps on them and I don't run diodes or other caps and never had a problem. If you have never had one, it will take a bit to get used to programming, but once you figure it out you will love it, its a great speed control. I am not sure of the wire size, but I have ran the stuff it comes with and ran them with bigger deans wire and never had a problem.

You need to send it to AdrianM at Schumacher USA. His e-mail address is in a post a few back, he can give you the address or look it up on the Schumacher USA site.

Hello,

Even thought I'm not an expert on the esc but since I'm using it for some time I'll try and give you some answers

You can install any capacitors any/if you want.
You can NOT use diode/s if you set ENSA to 100%. For any other setting you should
The original one is very small and gets hot. I replaced it with a thicker 14 gauge so yes it might be a 16 gauge

I hope the above helped you

Enjoy your Rapida

Nick

I have an older v.extreme. for 1/12 stock or 19 you will not need a cap or a diode on the motor. Actually if you run the diode, you have to turn the ensa setting off on the speedo. for 1/12 mod, I would probably run a rx pack. mod motors pull a lot of amp and sometime your rx may not get the juice it needs during hard acceleration. that is why if you look at the mod cars at the iic, you will still see a rx pack even when they are running 3800 cells.

Default repair cost question

My keyence zero-v extreme has been subjected to the school of hard knocks and I have damaged the case again. Now only the right side of the switch works, so I can't reprogram the unit anymore.

I want to send it in for a new case. Do I need to send $50 for a replacement fee or less for just the case repair?

Thanks,
sanford

Cases are only like $5 each I think. Well the one I needed for my Rapida Pro was $5 anyway.

Contact [email protected] and see what he says.

Default EXStraight

Hey Guys,

Do you know anything about the new Keyence EXStraight esc, is it the new top of the line keyence esc. Basically I'd like to know how it rates against the Rapida Pro.

The Exstraight uses the same FET boards as the Rapida Pro so it has super low resistnace but it has all of the Rapida's advanced features removed. All you do is set it to your transmitter, set the min brake and current limiter on the pots and you are done.

It sells for $119.99.

So it eliminates all of the cool tweaking features that people oooohh and ahhh about on the Rapida and then rarely use...but still delivers the same basic performance, only in a much smaller lighter, less expensive package??

Nice

Yeah thats pretty much it...except i still fool around with Min drive and frequency from track to track and on asphalt vs carpet.

FYI, The ExStraight will not work on 4 cells

I have no idea why they didnt make it work with 4 cells.

OUCH!!!

Thanks for that info Adrian...there are several local racers that were looking to get the ExStraight to run 1/12 with as they found the Rapida a touch to bulky compared to some of the other high-end ESC's on the market...

I'll make sure to let them know. Can the Exstraight be used in 1/12 in conjunction with a Rx pack?

Just picked up a Rapido Pro second-hand.. man, it's wicked, it had me at Hello! .. No receiver caps, no schottky, it's everything my QC2 should have been, and the extra size is sooo worth it the benefits, it fits perfectly in the TA05 speedo space like a glove..

Can't wait to stick it in my Mini with a silver can motor.. the guy who won our National TCS in Mini had a Rapido Pro, and we need every millivolt possible going to those pissy little Johnsons..

What would happen if I put the frequency down to the lowest possible? I'd have the power limiter running to prevent wheel spin, but overall would the motor wear down faster but be ultra punchy, if I understand what a lower frequency does? Is it worth it, or should I just keep it to the 2,500 I ran my stock with?

Keyence sure dropped the ball on that idea, I had thought that the eXtraight would be perfect for my 12th scale.........

I HOPE they do a 12th scale version!!!!!

That's a hint to Keyence !

We are not sure. It kind of tough to sell a speedo at the $119.99 price point. Its pretty basic and you could get a GTX or QC3 for $30 more so we aren't sure if there will be enough demand.

We have had a handful of inquiries but we need a lot more than that before we order significant quantities of speedos.
