Default LRP TC Sphere Problem

I planned on going racing today. So before I'm going to leave I decided to just give it a quick test in house just to check it all works. I am using the Sphere with an M8, Spektrum Micro, Airtronics 94359 Servo and Trinity Co27 Pro. The battery is an SMC 5000 28C hardcase. I didnt charge the battery out of the box.

I turn it on and it seems fine. Its in my hand at this time. I turn the steering and its fine. I give the throttle a blast and the wheels are turning backwards. Then a load of grey smoke comes out of the ESC. I shut it off as soon as I can.

Now I am stuck on what to do. Because the race is in about 7 hours and I think the ESC is fucked up.

I wired the motor according to the ESC's instructions. The red and blue are on the negative and the yellow is on the positive.

Can anyone help me as to what went wrong?

I now feel very stupid. Damn my colour blindness! I put the yellow to positive, when the orange should have been on it instead.

I need to send it off for repair because I am pretty certain it will be broken.
