Dead M11
 

I've had my M11 for around 2½ years, never had any real dramas with it.

I was using it for a race meeting this past weekend (2 day event) finished up on the saturday, where it was working fine all day, Got to the track again on the sunday and found that it wouldn't turn on. I didn't touch it at all from when I put it back in it's case, Didn't drop it or drop anything on it.

Has anybody had this problem?

Have to ask this since I didn't see it posted. Did you accidentally leave it on and kill the batteries?

I would try throwing in some fresh ones and seeing if it turns on.

I have never heard of it just not turning on though...

Yeah, tried two sets of batterys, and nothing, their connections are fine and both took a good charge.

I just can't get over the fact that just it just died sitting in the radio bag. :confused:

There are generally two possibilities as to what can be wrong with it.

1. Take the battery tray out and see if it looks like any of the plastic warped or melted near the battery connection in the radio. If there is, then you might have blown the safety diode in the handle.

2. It's possible the switch went bad on the transmitter. If the display can turn on, but the main power can not then you probably just wore out the switch. Hey, it's a switch. Just like in a car, they tend to wear out.

Best bet is if you're not sure you should send it in to Airtronics service and have them check it out.

Good Point, I didn't even think of just trying to turn on the display.

I will send it away but I've got that much racing coming up over the next few months (every weekend until december) I was hoping there was something that I could do myself.

Have you been charging it through the transmitter charge plug with the included M11 charger? If you have... plug and unplug it into the transmitter charge plug a few times and then try turning on the radio. There's sort of a switch in there that turns your transmitter off when charging and sometimes it gets sticky and stays off even when you've unplugged the charger.

I usually charge like that, but last weekend I forgot to take the charging lead with me. So I took the batterys out, took off the connector and charged directly off the charger.

But that was Saturday morning and it worked fine all day (with both batterys)...
...Come sunday morning....:weird:

But I'll try charging through the transmitter aswell, see if that helps.

The plastic around the battery connection is fine, no warping or melting everything looks fine. Also tried the Display and nothing.

I tried what you tried Sim, and still nothing.

This is a-feaking-mazing. How does it stop working overight? :mad:

Looks like the only option is to miss out on a sh1tload of racing and send it back to Airtronics. :( I sold my backup M8 only a few months ago because I thought I'd never need to have a spare radio..:lol: How wrong I was :ha:

Might upgrade to the M11S and keep this one as a spare for future mysterious failures.

Humm, you used to just leave the batteries in the radio, but recently you've had them in and out a bunch, 2 batteries back and forth... Then all of a sudden it doesn't turn on...
Suggest double, triple checking the battery connections. Good luck.

Done and Done a thousand times. Both batterys work fine in an old MX-3 I've got laying around.

And like I said, straight into my radio bag working.... then straight out not working. And I was using both batterys on the Saturday.

I only wish it was some stupid little detail like that. :( Believe it or not I'd feel a whole lot better.

I would if it was legal. I bought it from Tower Hobbies years ago on the 75MHz band only to discover that 75MHz is illegal in Australia. :blush:

This happened to a JR R-1 I had... I plugged it in through the radio to charge it, and didnt know the polarity of JR was reversed. The radio wouldnt turn on again... I opened it and changed the fuse, and everything went back to normal...

ive had this same problem happen with servos of mine work fine when your coming off of the track and then go to turn it on for next race and wont do anything i geuss i just have bad luck and its rubbing of on you :lol:
