New V1.64 software works great!

I have read a lot about intermittent problems with esc's on this thread and was skeptical to upgrade from V1.63 but did.

- First update your 2 in 1 programmer box, by itself (without esc connected), two times in a row.

- Then connect esc to box, and update esc to new program THREE times in a row. This is the "flash" issue some talk about. Flash means reload program again.

I used the new mod program for my mod buggy, truck and 4wd. All three had no glitches, ran smoother and cooler than before. I use Trinity D-3 mod motors which seem to work perfect with HW 120 amp esc. One of my esc's is a speedpassion version, that was before I discovered HW was the same thing, but only half the price.

Does anyone want to post their settings to try? i'm running a 8.5T motor in a TLR 22 on a clay indoor track with pretty good traction...approximate track size is 90 x 60. i'm running a 120A EZrun esc. i'm looking for something not to hairy that i can bump up if necessary....a good starting point.

Okay, so I've finally figured out what I want to run after doing some research but I need final opinions.... I was thinking of buying this
http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-combo-m5a.html
a XERUN 150A 4168SD combo or a
Tekin RX8/2250kv combo
The XERUN is $209 with free shipping and the Tekin is $279 plus shipping.
Is it worth the extra $90 to go ahead and get the Tekin setup?
Combo will be going into my Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium Pro Truggy and I have a 4s and 5s lipo pack.....
I know the Tekin is pretty smooth which is why I picked it over the Mamba stuff but I was wondering how is the Hobbywing parts. I will be doing bashing and racing at DirtBurners in STL and FastLane RC in Kansas City. (4sOnly)

That's what I'm trying to find out because if I could just use the Hobbywing and get the same performance that would save more $90 over the Tekin combo plus get a programming card in the deal
Anyone can answer our questions?

I'll just give my experience. I have the XERun 60A, 120A, and 150A ESC's. I also have 2 RX8's. I just got my RX8's back b/c they needed to be upgraded from the old 4 hole case to the new 3 hole case. They seem to be working just fine at this point. I sent them in for the upgrade b/c they were starting to act funny. If tekin didn't have such good customer service I would never consider sending them back. If these RX8's 'let the smoke out' I will not replace them w/ any more RX8's. My XERun's have been great and I love the little program box. XErun's seem to run sensorless motors better than the RX8's btw.

Yeah what leaned me toward the XERun was that fact that it included a program box and usb cable to hook to my laptop at a great price. I'm big on fine tuning

The Hobbywing esc's are also really smooth unsensored, though that combo is sensored. I run a Xerun 60a on a sensored motor and it's super smooth, so the Xerun 150 should be the same. The HW stuff has been rock solid for me, and they do have CS if something does go wrong ( though it's back to china for your esc).

So I was given a HW 80a ESC Motor combo which I put in my RC8TE. I know that the ESC works best on 4s (2x 2S) but is there a way to trick the ESC?

I purchased a 3s 11.1v 5k lipo. and I wondered if it was possible to use the following adapter to make the ESC run 1 single Lipo rather than 2 2s lipo packs. Someone I know tried cutting the leads to make one, and had problems. I just wonder if the following adapter would allow me to use 1 lipo.

Can it work? Ideally, I want to get the newer 150A ESC motor combo. Also, are the software profiles the same for the 8th scale system as the 10th scale ones? I have 2 digital programming boxes, one for my 8th scale and the other for 10th. Do I just need one box for both types?

Just cut the two wires coming out of the esc, and solder you plugs on. It worked fine on mine.

Just short one of the connections, that's what I do so I can run 1 or 2 packs easily. When the kids use it they get 1 pack, when I run it I use 2.

To short the connection use one female deans connector and solder a wire across the terminals. When you want to run 1 battery plug the shorted female connector in, when you want to run 2 batteries take it out.
