Nomadio
Who's got them and how do you like them? I love my sensor and i think it's the best radio i ever used.
|
oh, thanks pc9840 for this thread. I think this is going to help alot of people out.
|
Since I'm sponsored by Nomadio I'm kinda biased (not really I bought my Sensor with my own money...)
I love my Sensor... I have not used a more comfortable radio... I have the buttons and switches all programed to do what I want to do with them... I have the React also (it was free :D) and although it's faster and can run other brand receivers on the fly I like the Sensor... I race 5th scale and you know all those features you though you'd never use, I use them... |
I think that's the only thing wish the sensor did, bind to other recievers. I thought i seen some skins for the react, does anyone know if there is any for the sensor?
|
I know there are, I've seen pictures posted on the Nomadio forum...
You can run the DSM receivers, you just need to have a computer handy... Also... There's a guy making billet aluminum steering shafts for the Sensor, I finally broke mine and paypaled him $20 and don't have to ever worry about breaking it again... |
Thanks, where would i find it in the program to set up for other recievers on the computer, i looked and didn't see anything, also i just got it maybe a month ago too so i'm still trying to set it up.

Under Preferences you'll see Application, click on DSM Compatible. It will put the radio in a mode to communicate with the Spektrum receivers... In order to go back to Nomadio Transceivers you have to go back into RC Desktop and switch it... Remember to send the settings to your Sensor to make the change... It's going to ask you if your are sure and it's beta, yadda yadda yadda... |
Very happy with how my React has been working over the past 6 months....
Everyone that has tried it has liked it and many have since taken the plunge to get one of their own...:D |

You need to have the latest BETA RC Desktop installed on your computer. DSM support will NEVER be in a Non-Beta release (just the way it is...)

The ability to download, store and tweak settings from my pc, was what made me change. What truely amazed me at first was the difference in speed and the increased smoothness of the steering feel, compared to my previoous 3pk (spektrum) - especially noticeable when racing largescale! Still using 3.0 beta ;) //Kaare |
I have to say it's the smoothest radio i ever used.

I have had my Nomadio React for about 5 Months now. I really like it. It is so lite and super response time. I looked around a quite a bit before I bought it and for the price with the options of other high end radios but with a budget price. Bonus is being able to bind to DSM recievers. Flat out I would recomend it to anyone that is looking for a High end Radio but is on a tighter budget.
|
I had both the Sensor and React. I like both radios but I just couldn't drive very well with the React as the spring tension on the steering wheel was just not tight enough for me.
I like the Sensor best of the two and the large screen makes for easy reading at a quick glance. The only thing I wished was it had more memory and could switch from Nomadio Transceivers to DSM without needing to use the laptop all the time. Only other thing I would of liked to see what a charge jack which I think could of been a running change as I think they can do it pretty easily. All in all never had any problems with them and would think of a Sensor down the road if a few changes where made. For now I will stick to my 3PK but like I said nothing bad to say about Nomadio as I would buy another one if I came across a good deal. Overall very nice radios. |

I agree, I like a very heavy spring on my wheel, I have my 3PK cranked all the way up... The React spring is too soft for me....
Too bad Nomadio don't have a memory chip or something like that for the Sensor to give it equal memory of the React. That would be huge thing for me and I might buy another Sensor if that happened. The huge screen on the sensor is awesome and a feature I have always liked alot. |

After breaking two shafts I found and purchased an alumminum shaft from a guy off the Nomadio website. I immediatly installed it and works great. I have ran it for a couple weeks now. Great drop in part. It is only $20 shipped. I would highly recommend one to anybody with a sensor. Everyone I know that uses one has broken that shaft at least once. Pictures below.
I had finally broke one as I was packing my Sensor for a 5 hour trip 3 states away to race.. Thankfully a longer screw and some CA held all weekend... I had my React with me as a back up, but I just like the feel of the sensor so much better... I ordered the Billet shaft, got it in a few days and now I know I'll never break one again... |
I think i'll order one of those, so when it does break i'll be set.
|
It is definitly worth the money. A spare steering wheel assembly from Nomadio(with plastic shaft) is $35:tire:
|
woo hoo my react will be at my house today!!
soon followed by my upgrade skin...anyone else got one on their react? |
just curious, how many of you guys use the telemetry feature?
|
I use the temp probes on my nitro vehicles and run the voltage monitoring on my electric cars to keep an eye on my pack voltages during practice to avoid over-discharging them..

One feature I really liked for nitro was the on board temp setup. Nothing better during a race to glance at my Sensor screen and read the temp of my motor while I'm racing. I used this feature on all my nitro stuff whether I was racing or using one of my nitro for a little bash time.
|
this thread seems to ave died out a little...
I'm a new React owner, and so far I love it... I race RC motorcycle and I find the softer spring in the react to be a bonus (coming from a very old M8) waiting to get my Dark Identity wrap and I'll be all set... the only thing I wish I had in the React is the ability to put different sound alert in it.... but that's not a big deal |
I should be getting my React in a few days also. Was considering waiting for the DX3R but decided to go with the Nomadio :D
|
I love my Sensor. I sold my Z-1's and haven't looked back. Nomadio support is hands down the best. I broke my wheel shaft Nomadio sent me an immediate replacement for free. I have since ugraded to the aluminum one too.
Like any radio I have some dislikes. For me...it's the cheap plastics used. However, Nomadio is not a plastic manufacturer...they specialize in radios. :D |
Does anyone have any info on those micro recievers that were supposed to come out?

It is not surprising that people lost hope. Not only they shut their mouth on micro Rx, their is no further firmware development and they ignore that some people use Mac or Vista (not me)
I think military is where the big money is (you can rip off Uncle Sam as long as you have the excuse, it is not the government official paying the bill but tax payers j/k:eek::eek:). I like my moded React (BL and better screws) since it is no longer under any warranty, I will switch to 4pk and DX3R, someone who make living out of the industry, not someone who treat RC as a toy/hobby. |

Millitery is really a big money, I just watch the Ad video on Nomadio site about their Bombot (modified Emaxx, RTRed with camera). It cost 5000USD each :eek:
|
C'mon guys. Let's be honest here...they're still a leader in technology even if they haven't released new firmware/products in a while. Military contracts or not, Nomadio has still been top notch in their customer service. Why the bandwagon hopping? I agree that they need to release new stuff...but let's be patient here. Just because they don't post regular updates on their website doesn't mean things are not being R&D'd. ;)
|
I think i might just buy the spektrum recievers and run the radio in the dsm mode seeing that i have some spektrum recievers. i wanted to avoid changing modes all the time.

I had a sensor for over a year. It broke in September, and when i called to get help i was told i should be a react as the sensor was our of warranty. I know use a 3pk with Fasst, and will never go back to nomadio. I to was hoping to get the Micro when they said it would be our around may. Its still not out, plus i have a vista computer and that made keeping my radio up to date impossible.
2 of the pro drivers that i race with that use to use nomadio have left, and they say to stay away. The company was under going many changes, and the hobby side was likely to be dropped. |
Great, if they drop their rc div. that means I'll never get replacement parts. Its hard enough now. I am looking into a company that will make all the parts out alum. The only problem is if a c board goes I can't get that made. I may just have to jump ship.

If a small receiver is such a huge thing those with the React should just use the Spektrum Mini receiver. That is what I did and had no problems and didn't notice any difference between the stock V2 transceiver vs the Spektrum Mini receiver. Only thing is no telemetry. |
