Team Exalt Phoenix slow

I have been bench testing with a duno and extensive on track testing. All of my Phoenix are the “Specialized Gold Edition “ (highest price) and all of them are a disappointment

StephenR has dyno'd a ton of different 17.5 motors, and a while back I did some number crunching on the raw data he so generously provided. Here's a spreadsheet filtered to show the data for a couple of current gen motors. Not all motors are tested at the same timing increments so it's hard to do exact 1 to 1 comparisons, but I picked as close to 45 degrees as I could for each motor. When you look at the watts produced and the time taken to spin the flywheel to certain RPM's, there's nothing that stands out about the Exalt one way or the other. I'd say the only real conclusion you could draw from the data is there's no reason for them to be as insanely expensive as they are.

Kevin Abbott owner of said "Exalt" formally known as head of "Trinity" before Horizon hobbies purchased them... Sole man responsible for the Trinity Slot Machine "1" motor, and the over priced stock motors. Interesting to see he's still carrying on old Trinity$ busine$$ plan$, and product$. The vintage saying is now confirmed true "Theres a sucker born every day" My 👒 off to you sir....

I just bought my first Exalt product - a 5200 mah LiHV shorty with great specs: ~176 grams, 135 c and 39.52 watt hours.
I was stoked to find a battery with these specs (mostly that light and that much capacity, the C rating doesn’t mean much to me) but was pretty disappointed to see the IR at 4.7 and 5.4/cell straight out of the box. Not low and not even. I hoped it would get better with several cycles charging at 2c (10.4 amps) and discharging on five minute runs. IR got even which is good, but it also went up - reads 7.1/cell now. I’m not impressed - wish I’d have bought something else.

Interesting. I haven't tried an Exalt motor, but I did swap recently to one of their batteries, 4400mah 150 C and it is has done well for me. Holds punch longer than my Reedy batteries and "feels" a little livelier later in a heat than my ProTeks.
That being said, the spreadsheet snippet that RC10Nickquoted above has the New Wave motor I am running (I have 2 of them) and in dirt oval street stock that New Wave is outstanding and is holding it's own against the newer HW G4s etc,
When it comes to Motors it feels like there is some luck involved as well as making a selection and setup that matches your application well. I have a Motiv MCS in my 2wd clay car and I think the New Wave was stronger despite the testing showing the MCS being a little better numbers performer. And I completely blew up a Team Powers 13.5 recently so now I am on to a Rotor Ron motor.....we'll see......
