Hey all I'm a pretty big unit, I'm about 196cm and 120kg with big hands. My last transmitter was a Hitec Aggressor and it was a good size but it was old and started to glitch, also no longer made. I bought a Flysky G7P off Aliexpess and it was a much better radio but the handle is too small, my hand feels cramped after a few minutes. A mate gave me is Spektrum Dx4 and that also felt small so did a old KO Helios I also sampled.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a decent transmitter that doesn't cost a huge amount (I only bash nitro buggies and crawlers these days) that also has good/generous ergonomics?

If you need a larger grip take some old foam inserts and wrap them around the handle to your desired thickness. Then get some veterinarian wrap from amazon and wrap the foam to keep it in place. The benefit of the vet wrap is it's self adhesive and you can unwrap and rewrap as needed. It's also provides good grip.

I used a section of auto radiator hose and cut that to fit around the handle on an old Futaba Magnum FM I had in the 90's ... worked well, nice and thick and the rubber was very secure in the hand ... I guess the idea is to find a radio you like and then modify however you need to make it fit for you

Use tennis racquet handle wrap. It’s foam and you can add layers for an extra big grip.

Thanks for the help, I do use handlebar tape, the main issue I have is the distance between the top and the bottom of the radio squish my fat ape hand.

I think all of the Sanwa and Futabas are on the mid->smaller end. Flysky as well.

Maybe the Radiomaster MT12 or some of the Spektrums (DX6C/DX5 Pro)? I think the Radiolink RC8X is a little on the bigger side too.

In the Flysky Noble NB4 radio control, if I'm not mistaken, the base of the radio can be removed because it also uses an internal battery in the handle, this could help you, alternatively you should consider switching to a radio stick

I’ve heard a lot of bigger guys recommend the FlySky GT5. It’s pretty affordable and has decent ergonomics for larger hands. I know you didn’t like the G7P, but the GT5 might give you a bit more room to grip comfortably. Worth a look if you’re on a budget.

I'm going to order one thanks, I would love the Noble but they cost $450 in Australia and I don't race anymore.
Someone said the Radiolink Rc4gs is also a decent size but I tried a Gen 1 version years ago and thought it was pretty cheap and nasty. Unless the v3 is better?

No need to be a racer to use/get a high end transmitter.

They are not, I would not recommend the RC4/6GS line at all.

OK thank you, I think I might avoid the cheap stuff and stretch the budget and buy the Radiomaster Mt12.

Well, read the MT12 topic and think twice if that is a transmitter to advise with all the crappy updates, and how long is the grip for the use of wide hands? Even a Futaba 3PV is for its price a more serious transmitter (not knowing about the size of the grip)

Just my 2 cents, buy the best radio you can afford that feels good in your hand. Sample before you buy, I bought a KO EX-1 years ago online when I was racing 1/10th on road, paid a lot for it but I never liked the feel of it (great radio though). My old Spektrum DX3 felt better in my hands, its all subjective though. Especially if you have big hands.

The cheapy low end flysky and Radiolink stuff are good for crawlers and backyard bashers but they feel cheap and the buttons and software are basic hence the sub $100 prices.

I don't know much about the Radiomaster MT but I have a Radiomaster TX16S and its a superb radio.
