Ho visto che anche i piloti TC di alto livello stanno iniziando a usare questo caricabatterie, quindi presumo che presto arriveranno dei suggerimenti da loro al top management di toolkitrc.

Got my rcdischarger all setup with the tool kit charger. Going to practice tomorrow.

Can I charge 2 4s packs at 12amp off a server power supply which is around 12.2-12.4v?

If you have a 500watt power supply you should be able to.

So my overall thoughts are this is a decent charger for the money. It does take forever to complete a charge or discharge. With that being said it does finish a charge in decent time but then it has added time before it actually says a pack is finished. Listen for it to say “fast charge done”. The pack can be pulled and ran at this time. Also experienced an issue when charging at max 30amps getting a voltage high warning. I experienced this using the rcdischarger and with just using a stand alone 6S pack as my power source. Love the interface compared to the icharger but i’m afraid that the toolkit wouldn’t be able to fill my needs when charging more than one pack. All my testing has been on single channel charging both 1S and 2S.

I asked through the Facebook chat if there is a firmware in the works that solves this thing but I didn't get an answer, in the past they had answered other questions about this product... if someone else wants to try asking the same question maybe we will have a solution in a shorter time..

what needs to be "solved"?

Same , ignored, they are usually really responsive. It looks good in the box in my workshop until a new firmware comes out or I toss it in the trash.

You need amps or watt rating , most are 700-750w and you will be finenat 12. With ac single 12v ps your input amps to the charger are usually the limiting factor 12 amp is a pretty low charge rate, send it

SH 12-03-2024 12:32 AM

Ok thanks for the replies, unfortunately with the slow balance rates I will hold off, shame as it’s half the price of the DX6 (icharger) but with what looks to be a better interface and screen size.

The known issues are
1. Slow charge times
2. Charging at high rates can trigger an over voltage battery warning around 4.0v/cell, which shuts the charge cycle down.
We've seemingly successfully circumvented issue #2 by selecting LiHV as the charge setting and adjusting the cutoff voltage back down to normal LiPo voltage. While this works, it shouldn't have to be done.
3. Laggy touch screen with slow response.
4. Updated firmware may cause touch screen to become buggy - phantom touches.

  1. Honestly, how fast do you need it to be? Its pretty much on par with my icharger 308 duo charging at 12A or 15A at ~15-20mins charging from storage on a 6800mah 2s pack. With dual channels, I never feel like I ever need to wait for a battery to charge.
  2. I dont charge at 30 amps all the time so cant commment, should try with some old packs and see if I get the same warnings.
  3. I mean its no iphone screen, but having used the touch pad on the M17, the screen on the M8D is perfectly fine to use. All you do is poke poke poke once you set everything up and use the scroll wheel to do fine adjustments. Pretty much not an issue for me. Also do you know you can set the charger to "continuous work" mode so it would automatically charge the next pack once you unplug and plug in a new one? Eliminating the need to touch the screen. Just make sure you plug in the balance lead first or it will throw a fit.
  4. Maybe im one of the lucky ones. Im on the latest 3.05 firmware and havent come cross any phantom touches.

My power supply has pooped itself, now the question is stay the same (hp 1200w server psu) or will this Toolkitrc adp450 do the job @24v 19amp charging 4s 6000@2c…im thinking not but I’ve not really dealt with 24v supplies. I’ve had bad luck with these server power supplies, this is the second one that simply won’t turn on. Safe to say the m8d is back in play.

That's only 465 watts of power, it would be ok with one 2s at higher amps. Does your current PSU have a resister to turn it on ? The resister might just need replaced.
