The SP5. I haven't had a chance to get my hands on an R2 yet.

I finished editing the video, for the SP5. I will post it tomorrow. The rotor, on that motor, is right there with the Certified Slot Machine, at 1754 Gaus. Heads up, if you would like to purchase that SP5 motor, I just posted it for sale in the "For Sale/Trade" Forum. I have it listed for $99 but make me an offer.

Sorry for taking so long to get it posted. Computer kept freezing up.

I know there has to be more guys out there regularly testing and/or comparing RC products.

Tekin Gen4-R2 Elite testing results.

Sorry, but I have to share this.
I just tested a Surpass rotor that was the highest ROAR approved rotor I have tested yet.

N - 1755
S - 1787
Avg - 1771

What's the highest you guys have seen in a ROAR approved motor? This got me really curious on what's out there.

I watched your video. This motor is going to be great in 2wd buggy with the torque numbers. Should be able to gear it to the moon.

Reedy Sonic 540-SP5 17.5T

I picked up a Reedy SP5 17.5T to go in my AE RC10B7 because the Horizon Hobby Trinity Slot Machine exchange hasn’t happened for the certified motors. I did the works, full Monty, certified treatment to the Reedy SP5 with Boca Orange Seal ABEC7 ceramic bearings and Reedy titanium screw kit. So I’m sharing couple more data points for the Reedy SP5.

The Trinity Slot Machine 17.5T was brand new (cracked the seal today) and was used as the slave motor for the load test. The tests were run on a Hobby Wing Tunalyzer off a 900W server power supply because my batteries are all in storage mode. I’ve noticed that the power supply reads differently than a 130C 2S battery. Usually a higher amp draw, but comparing within the test set it doesn’t matter.

Observations
  • The SP5 is timed 10 degrees less than the Slot Machine Certified out of the box.
  • Adding approximately 3 degrees more timing from 40.6 degrees only added 0.4A. Suggests that there is more headroom.
  • The fully blinged out (“works”) SP5 put out as much KV as the Slot Machine with 7 degrees less timing and a full one amp draw less making the SP5 much more efficient.
  • The works SP5 put out about 80KV more at .26A less.
  • Under load stock vs works was only slightly better KV.
  • Boca Bearing Orange Seal AF required break-in before the improvements started to appear.

I'd like to see a surpass v4s compared to a v6 or a newer than v4s surpass motor.
those and the hobbywing v10 motors.

The sp5 motor I'm under the impression isn't much of an improvement over the s+ series. Intrested in a comparison between those 2 as well.

It would only be a good comparison if they were new. It might be pretty hard to find a new S+. If someone was willing to send me motors for testing, I would be more than happy to do it. From what I have seen, the newer motors are much better than the older ones.

I'm currently working on a new device to help better compare motors. Once I get it finished, I'll be testing more motors. I have had a lot of requests to test the Maclan, Muchmore, and Team Powers. I haven't decided which one I want to do first.

I tested the Hobbywing V10 G4 about 3 months ago.

I would vote for the team powers one. From my perspective, those team powers have a lot of TQ.

I just ran a test on the Hobbywing G4. It was not impressive. What really put a bad taste in my mouth is how lose the windings were. I'm sure it's not like that with all, but you have to expect that mine was not the only one out there like it. It is a competitive motor, but due to how popular it is, I was expecting more.

how about the G4R? Any better than the G4? How does it compare to the Surpass Rocket V6?

I've used the team powers and wasn't that impressed. I'm interested in the new V5S. But thw regular Actinium V5 Gauss rating was very low compared to the Surpass. I believe the team powers Gauss rating was about 1670/1680 and the surpass ranked near the top with around 1740 Gauss. The surpass motor allows you to gear up a tooth or two since the torque is insane and for the price you can't go wrong

The G4R has must more torque than the G4. The G4R has a higher RPM, unloaded, but the V6 has a lot more torque. Racers are adding 2 more teeth to a V6, over G4R. However, on a wide-open track, the G4R can hold it's own.
