Replacing Transmitter

Probably a dumb question - I know nothing about RC control, but here goes. I came into possession of an Extreme Machines Monster XX which is missing the RC controller (transmitter). Is there a practical way to replace that controller or do I need to buy a new set of matched controller and servos?
I evidently can't post a link or photo as a new user. Thanks in advance.

I can't find any pictures or documentation for this truck. Most likely you'll need a transmitter and receiver. I think this truck uses a 27mhz transmitter. Even if you could find one with the proper crystal to be compatible with your receiver, it will probably cost more than an inexpensive 2.4ghz transmitter & receiver. Something like a Flysky FS-GT2 or GT2E. There are lots of options under $40.
Just make sure you're getting a kit with both transmitter and receiver. You only need 2 channels, but if you find one with more, that's OK.

They are standardised but it's possible for vehicles to use proprietary ones. I'm not sure if yours is one of them.

The connector for the servo and motor controller (ESC) should look something like this. It may or may not have a key and the colors of the wires may be different. Do you have a standalone receiver?
There are ESCs that have a receiver built in. If you have one of these, that will be a problem.

Just as a follow up, I bought the Fkysky GT2 and the servos plugged right in and the RC car works great. Actually, too great, it goes about 20 mph. Is there an easy way to limit the top speed by adjusting the limits on the servos or transmitter?
Thanks to all that helped me figure this out.

Supposedly this truck is based on the Team Associated RC18MT, so you might even be able to find replacement parts for it! Monster XX 1:16th scale RC truck reviewed

Actually I think it is more like the 1/10 scale based on the Tamiya DF-02 which can be accessed off the other link in your linked page. (I still can't post a link because I'm a newbie.)

That car has an own PCB with on it all the needed electronics. You better contact the seller or manufacturer for a spare transmitter. If you want to change it, you need to change all electronics and looking at the size of the car you need stuff used for 1/24 cars like micro stuff. Getting a new car is cheaper.....

Flysky Noble NB4 plus would be a good choice for you.
