Default Ghost RC - Monster X Ace

https://www.ghost-rc.com/

The Monster X ACE is based on the proven Mamba Monster X 1:8 scale controller with special modifications for no prep 2S drag racing, only from GHOST RC:
  • Timing increased from 45 degrees to 60 degrees
  • 8AWG battery wires
  • Unique red heat sink
There is no fan / fan shroud (not required when running 132 feet in less than two seconds) and current sensing is disabled as is rapid temp increase protection. A USB Castle Link is included for programming and data logs.
This isn't the first time someone came out with a bespoke model of a castle esc, but this one is a bit interesting. According to their Facebook page, Ghost RC is located in Kansas City. But the shipping label on the box tells me my ESC came from Castle Creations in Olathe, KS.

Does anybody know anything about this company? Their site and Facebook are somewhat bare.

I'm half convinced this could be an offshoot of Castle, maybe an in-house race team?

I have one of the ESCs. I'm happy with it so far though I haven't gotten much testing with it yet. Ohio weather.
They include the castle link programmer with it. The castle wireless programmer does not work with it.

I don't much about the company/group that is producing it.

What cap pack did you pick? I see the castle 4-cap packs being used but I'm not sure if they're the 8s or 12s versions. I'm also tempted by the DRK cap pack I've got laying around... and then there's the R1 30 gram...

I picked up a Team Brood "XL" capacitor pack from a local shop.

I went with the castle 8s pack, seeing as it's matched to the esc. I've tried to find some info about mixing capacitors but nobody agrees whether it's a good idea or not.

Anyway, got it all soldered up and ready to program (castle link included with the esc was nice, even if I already had one)... and ran into a problem... my laptop wouldn't pick up the castle link. Tried my desktop, no problem. Went back to the laptop, tried a different USB port... AH!

DO NOT TRY TO CONNECT CASTLE LINK (USB) TO A USB 3.X PORT. It seems to only work on an old USB 2.x port.
