Besides, on one of my charge leads, that balance wire is interfacing with the battery through that same cage connector.

And it doesn't really matter to me whether it's the balance or the main wire, they're both part of the charge lead harness - or at least they are for the bullet style batteries.
+1

I use a 406 Duo with 2 sets of balance leads, not uncommon to see one side showing IR fade, when that happens I swap the cables to confirm true IR fade or a faulty connector. I typically have to solder fresh connectors every 6 months to a year. There are many lower quality brands of cables sold which won't last a few weeks before IR readings degrade prematurely.

slotted connectors can be spread back with a tiny phillips screwdriver to extend the life and sometimes the balance harness needs to be replaced as well. I always keep a 3rd spare set of connectors as well so I'm not having to solder on a busy race day.

Is the negative balance lead wire the one connected to the negative on the charging cable (Makes sense). The cables I got are all black. Just making sure I'm inserting the balance plug correctly into the charger. Strange they wouldn't have this marked.

Just seen this one. Looks like the negative balance wire is the one connected to the negative charge lead.

And the positive balance wire connected to the positive main lead. That is normal.

I’ve been looking for correct wiring configuration for charging and discharging of 1s batteries using a discharge bank and the DX8 charger, DRC sells the cable but they are on several week back order and will not ship out till June 16 as per the website
