I’m a bit disappointed in the new DX6 and DX8. Software looks to be identical to current chargers. I also don’t see any new functionality. So basically you are getting the same 308duo/406duo chargers in a slightly different package. Why would anyone upgrade if they own a 308duo or 406duo?

I was really hoping for a software revamp/improvement. At least something between the current 10 year old interface and the muchmore cell master specter.

As per Junsi's naming convention, the 308 does 8S at 30A as well, so the DX8 basically is a newer 308 Duo, it seems.
As to the why, maybe they'll stop producing the older 308/406/4010 chargers?
Some info about the specs can be found watching this:

Face it. We RC racers continious buy new cars, motors, esc's transmitters etc while under the different looknig hood the product is the same as before with maybe small changes. So why should a charger being different from that?

It's difficult to claim that a new case for the charger will gain you 0.1s per lap or make the car easier to drive. There needs to be at least some level of plausibility that it's better.
