Default Reverse polarity damage?

I accidentally plugged in my bullet plugs backwards. I plugged - into + and I just barely touched the top of the hole with the other plug, a plume of smoke came from the hole on the battery I quickly pulled away the wire and unplugged the other. The wires where both very hot but did not melt the solder at the esc. The esc was not hot and neither was the battery. The plume of smoke came from the hot plug melting part of the lipos case. The battery charged back to its full normal of 4.35v per cell. The esc still works fine after 5 minutes of light use and so does the battery. Cap pack also appears to be good. The fan on the esc however got very hot after about 10 minutes of letting it run but the esc stayed cool. Did I cause any damage? Should I continue using my esc? I can’t rly afford another rn so let me know. Thank you.
