1s battery maintenance
#1
I’ve been getting deeper and deeper into the 1s 12th racing, got a couple questions on batteries/maintenance.. I recently bought an icharger x6 due to traveling and small size.. I’m looking to find a turbo 35 but that’s like a unicorn.. anyways I’ve been told to discharge them to boost performance.. I’ve never abused my batteries charging them(7700mah-7.7 amps etc) and always put them in storage until the following week..
my question is I’ve seen a discharger that will wire into the x6 but it looks like a pain at times to use. Is there a better setup then buying the discharger for the x6. Should I get a stand alone unit that I can use with all my batteries not just 1s Any help is appreciated

There is a huge X6 topic where several solutions are provided. The discharger for the X6 is actially no real discharger but it acts like an external load for higher discharge rates.
Of course you can get the SkyRC/GTracing stand alone discharger, not sure if it can handle 1S, you have to look into that.

Most of the X series discharge banks need to be disconnected to charge, because it's a big resistor inline with the battery. The easiest thing would be to get a iCharger Duo, which is what 99% of racers are using for this function. But I realize it's $350+ investment with a discharge bank.
But since you already have an X6 and power supply, I'd just buy the X6 discharge bank. It's not going to be any more of a pain to use than a Turbo 35. And it's much smaller.

If you connect an X6 to a battery power source and set it up in Power Regenerative Mode, you can get the full 30A discharge out of it. It was discussed in the X6 thread and it's in the users manual.
Running the charger from a power supply will not allow this functionality.
