I see. Was just trying to get a better idea of what you are doing. I've modded controllers and used to do PCB component level work.

I would probably use ribbon cable if i had some, but after seeing pictures i think most wire recommendations will work

If those buttons return a resistive value when pressed, then making the wires significantly longer might cause the controller to not recognize the buttons. If the controller is looking for a specific resistive value and the added length of wire changes the value enough, it won't see the correct value when the button is pressed. Do you have a multimeter or more preferably an oscilloscope? Without knowing exactly how the controller works, nobody can give you accurate advice. Those wires are small, so they do not carry significant current, but without more information we're all just guessing at this point.

masusaca, what are you trying to make where you need to move these buttons off the controller?

Depending on:
1) Where you are
2) How long you want to extend it

I'd recommend this stuff: https://www.adafruit.com/product/3892

It's 4-wire, but just peel off one of the wires to make it three. It's beautiful to work with, very flexible and the insulation doesn't melt with over enthusiastic soldering. Adafruit can do good shipping out of NYC and there are distributors in many parts of the world. That pack is trimmed to 1 metre, so if you need longer, it might be awkward.

Obviously go with what you can lay your hands on. Might be browser weirdness, but I see 4 of the 26AWG/4-wire in stock. Here in Oz there's some local suppliers that I can normally get small quantities next day. Would love to track down longer lengths of the 2/4/10 wire variants.
