Hey guys. Just got my wheeler built. My boy races it. Had it out last night for some shakedown time. During practice, which was about 2 packs, it ran fine. Was just working out suspension tunings etc.
During qualies is when we started having problems. Seems when the buggy got a decent jolt, it shuts down. What I mean is, no steering/motor but the esc fan and motor fan are still on. Also the receiver led is blinking, and the esc is blinking red/green. We do 13.5 blinky so the esc is normally blinking green. I will shut it down, and restart it quickly and it goes to normal, until it hits a pipe or something just a bit hard then shuts down again. This is what I have:

I was thinking because of the rx and esc mounted in the rear that it was getting too much vibration from chassis slap?
But it would shut down from a front impact as well. So maybe a faulty rx?
Any ideas?

try reducing the EPA on the steering, you might be getting brown outs from too much power being drawn from the servo, especially if its a Savox

I have my steering speed at 87 and return speed at 80. But I do have the travel maxed out. I have a protek 170t

Check your connections at the receiver? If any of the 3 pin plugs are loose or shorting out can cause similar symptoms.

This sounds like it could be a loose sensor wire. Tape the sensor wire down, make sure it is pressed in firmly and ensure there is some slack at each end where it connects to the ESC and motor.

But would a bad sensor wire take out my steering??

It shouldn't, but then again what you are describing is strange in itself so you never know.

IMO, it sounds more like an ESC issue than anything else...

Swap out receiver first and then ESC if that doesn't fix the issue. Had an ESC do stuff like this but that was yrs. ago.

It’s most likely the SMC esc

I had a strange problem last year with steering and motor glitch.

Turns out, I had the wires that ran to the receiver zip tied tightly together, and then zip tied tightly to a carbon fiber brace...
Once I released the wires the glitch went way...

Yeah, strange. Never had this problem. I need to buy another rx for my Losi5 anyway. Ill try swapping rx. A bad esc doesnt explain my steering going out but Im willing to try another one if its not a bad rx.

At least fans run! you know the batt ok. Unusual Steering & Throttle wen tout at the same time. Try Rebinding TX an RX, then Set neutral position on ESC . With Steering not functioning after you turn in on TX not communicating with RX., that's why I ask to rebind system. Then go from there.

Yeah I did a re calibration but not a rebind. I just figured when its bound, its bound. Im on vaca right now. When I come back Imma try some of these suggestions. All electronics are new except for the servo. Yeah, fans still run when it shuts down. No steering, no throttle, esc blinks grn/red and rx blinks. Only happens when it gets jolted. When I got everything ready for the 1st time, I ripped it up-and-down the road and it went fine. Even after 2 packs of practicing it was fine. It only started happening around the 3rd of 4th pack. I don't know if that has something to do with that ... nothing was hot. It would go over a big bump or jump and be fine. It had shut off with just a touch of the pipe. So it varies. But A bump or jump or jolt definitely had something to do with it

One thing I was thinking of is, I have my rx antenna wound up and in a shrink tube..so its pretty tight.
