no such thing as "BEST".. not in the real world...

testing, reporting, database, WHERE IS IT ?

if ONE was the "BEST" it would cost 3 times more.. with a record of it being the BEST...
and with the advancement over the years... if there was a BEST.. next Month it WONT..

my opinion.. electric rc racing since 1991...

yes, it know. I was commenting on the idea that somehow SMC batteries were “fresh” because they didn’t sit on a shelf

Not every lipo is the same cells just rebranded.. plenty of brands out there that can't hold up to the harsh charging and start to fail while others can reach ir's below 1. Plenty come new with high IR's sadly too. Best advice I could give you is find a brand you like and stick with it, kinda the same for all electronics.

Try this

RCBatterysupply Does this look like GenAce

There are several Chinese manufacturers of lipos. There all pretty much made the same for the different capacities and discharge rates. The formula remains the same. What I dont understand is how a person can say those batteries are ok but this is a better one yet both batteries have the same capacity and discharge rate say 8000Mah and 110C. I bet they come from the same Chinese manufacturer just rebranded.

Finding a brand u like and sticking with it is good advice.
Just remember that the chemistry in lipos don't last forever and when your lipo swells or puffs, this is a sign that the internal state of the battery itself has hardened, similar to how honey crystallizes when it gets old or exposed to air. Resulting that it can't be utilized to hold energy even though it's physically available . This is why an old lipo would charge quickly at low amperage, and wouldn't last very long when discharged.

So technically fresher is better, hence the reason for my earlier comment.
Top tier drivers use fresh packs, and would be shipped to them Direct from factories with couriers such as DHL.

If you test a battery and keep a record of its performance at the time of arrival, over time it will decrease as we cycle the lipo. The rate of crystallization of the lipo will differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, and volume buys will affect how long a lipo will sit on a shelf before it is sold.

So depending on which brand you choose, the lipo could be on a shelf long before you even get it because of the distributor network. I personally wouldn't buy from some distributors out there, as loss leader pricing strategies is an indicator that large volume buys have occurred and the likelihood of receiving an old lipo could increase, specially if the distributor is poor at shipping using FIFO. Finding a brand that is mindful of turning inventory in a reasonable timeframe and who does it continually is what you should consider.

My 2 cents.

I use Marka Racing Batteries. Italian factory, pretty popular in our area, good price, powerful and reliable. They produce 6000HV lcg and 8000HV packs. You can check them here: Mini-Z Racing Italia - Shop

Ok, so which distributors/brands are good and bad? A lot of us have a good understanding that newer stock is better.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Team EAM packs. Reliably the lowest IR, very high quality with great longevity, and priced competitively. Best value and outright best performance in my humble opinion.
