The middle has some extra filler piece to force air to the other resistors as the thermodynamic FEA showed that the flow and cooling to the resistors would be more balanced with this restriction in the middle.
Do you use a heat sink underneath? Sorry, can't tell from the picture.
I have some 60mm fans I got for free, so I'm thinking about this setup, which I found in a 3d printing site, which could be your creation.

Yes that is the black thing underneath that wasn't in the original picture I posted. Its just an old heatsink/fan from a dead video card. The fan on top was enough I think to get the job done but the track has plastic tables so I wanted something to prevent melting the table.

Its setup for the 60mm fan so you should be set using that.

Yes anything under my username in thingiverse is what you see here. I might start selling stuff on my wife's etsy page so if your interested in something PM me.

Started to build the discharger.
I bought 100w 2ohms, I thought I bought 1ohm.
Will 2 resistors do it?
Thanks Sacmiata.

Depends on what "doing it" means for you. But two 2 Ohm resistors will not do the same as four 1 Ohm resistors in parallel.

The former give you 1 Ohm total resistance in parallel, while the latter give you 0.25 Ohm (and thus allowing much higher currents to go through)

Also each resistor is specified for 100W, so with only two of them, you'd not get to 30A on 2S, but to 23-24ish, depending on whether you use 8.4V or 8.7V batteries...

4-2ohm resistors will get you .5 ohm and fit in the case just fine if they are the same size

So that will be good for about 15-18 amps. Not bad and should run cooler. Might still be worth building since you have the parts and the fan housing and heatsink could all be reused in a 1 ohm setup.

Looking good. I like the inserts on the bottom.

Well, unfortunately I have run in to the the rumoured 'cell 3' inaccurate voltage problem. I believe another forum sponsored by a well known charger manufacturer had been deleting posts about this issue. I had noticed previously that one cell on my 4S battery always had higher voltage and worse IR, but believed it to be the fault of the battery. That was my only pack with more than two cells, and I previously had just one icharger X6.

Today I went to charge a new 3S pack and get the 'connection error' warning and a higher voltage shown on cell 3. Same battery shows correct balanced voltages on all cells on the other icharger. I believe this fault ruined an expensive 4S pack of mine previously, but at least now I have noticed by comparing against my other charger (same latest firmware, settings etc.).

The voltage is so far out that even the 'user calibration' of each channel in the charger doesn't adjust it far enough to match the correct voltage. Be very careful charging 3cell and greater packs with this charger.

Default 4amp max duscharge

Well I got the dreaded 3.87 max discharge amount. I checked everything and it looks right. What firmware are we on now?
You guys think a firmware update will help?
I'm terrified to do that myself and know nothing on how to update firmware. Any link I can go to for step by step directions on how to do it.

Default 30 amps! Success!

Previous post disregard... My x6 didn't need a firmware update after all. I had to into the edit charge section and click on advanced then clicked on extra discharge. And it worked!

Assuming this is a relatively new charger? The firmware issues I think are for the first iteration or two and long ago fixed. There are some good walk-through posts that you should follow again like the max discharge settings.....also make sure your resister bank is wired in correctly and sized to not over amp the unit.....you have 4 or 5 1-ohm resistors?....5 resistors seems to draw to much current.

4 resistors get you to around 26 amps or thier abouts. 5 resistors get you to 30 amps.
It didn't go 30 amps but like 28.9 amps because I don't think my pack was fully charged.
It decreased current till shutting off about 20min. Pack was pleasantly warm.

It is possible, but you have to have an external power source. Still, yes, it is possible

Anyone make a 3 plug connector to get the RL power and X6 charger which is the newer X6 which is all black. I’m not comfortable plugging or wiring it wrong. Don’t want to mess up anything blow up anything lol. I’d rather buy one already made so it can be a plug and play. I can PayPal whoever can make one for me. Thanks in advance. Kinda like the one in the picture.
