Questions?? Issue with Traxxas 1/16 Scale Brushed Electronics

I am having a rather odd issue with my Summit where it drives perfectly fine in reverse, and the brakes are responsive, but the forward throttle cuts out so frequently that the car can barely drive. However, if I reverse throttle direction with the switch on the transmitter and drive forward with the reversed controls, or drive forward by adjusting the throttle trim up it works just fine. I tried reprogramming the ESC, which does not seem to have fixed the issue. I am also having to adjust the throttle trim pretty far down in order to stop it from running forward, if that makes any difference. Anyway, I cannot find anyone with the same problem so I was wondering if someone here had any insight.
