Carpet/Turf Myths and Truths!!!
Looking for a thread like this on hear about what is needed to run on Carpet and Turf and don't really see anything specific. I have read a bunch of things and I wonder what is actually true and what is actually false. Reason for starting this is that my local track is converting to turf and as much as I am psyched about the new surface im worried about some things!
Hopefully some of us with experience on these surfaces can enlighten us with what they do to handle these surfaces. Stuff like setups, tires, cooling, gearing etc...
My biggest questions are in regard to HEAT and the Gear diff and what should be done in terms of oil weight used and keeping the car cool. Heat is supposedly the biggest problem with the unlimited traction that exists.
So chime in and lets see what is necessary to maximize the experience on these surfaces!

The reality is that most turf just runs like really high-grip but consistent clay with grip from pipe-to-pipe. An added bonus is what it doesn't have - you subtract tire saucing, sweeping and that one guy who says "OffRoad needs to be dirt only!" and then whines all day when the track gets, "too dusty." Most carpet is much grippier than most turf.
