Been a long time since I went to BD.

Do you have any pictures of the track and approximate dimensions. Looking to run 1/8.

Thanks

I will be putting in calls today. If you know someone or drive for someone you think may want to sponsor the race talk w/ them ask them to call me ad spots are very inexpensive.

Track has 250' back straight, centerline has to be over 1500' but I've never walked it. On the rc signup page there is a photo I'll post another one here. We've made some important modifications for 1/8 since the photo was take though:

1) We smoothed out the back straight (no more "dip" anywhere on the straight)
2) We opened the track coming out of the sweeper, instead of making a hard right, you drive straight infront of the driver's stand
3) We've straightened out and resealed the chicane for higher entry and exit speeds in that part of the track.
4) We now use a mix of Lane Choice 7 (VHT) for traction

Over all we've also smoothed out some of the rougher spots on the track and resealed some areas damaged by the winter.

Right now the fast 1/8 scale guys are turning low 12's high 11's and I expect that to get faster over the course of the next couple weeks. The touring car guys are knocking on the door of high 13's around the full circuit.

I'll take some shots and video of 1/8 this Sunday and post for those who have not been here in a while.

Any idea of the 1/8th expected turnout? I raced this one last year and I would love to come out again if the turn out for 1/8th looks good? Who's racing 1/8th?

Taurean, I've spoken w/ Walo and some of the guys from down in VA and MD they plan on making it up this year. We've had between 6 and 8 1/8 guys showing up on a pretty regular basis so if the Brooklyn Hobbies/Floyd/NYC/Chaplin guys make it down we should have a decent field of 1/8

It's something that we struggle with. Racers are waiting for a good idea of turnout to see if they want to come so they hang on the fence and it feeds itself with everyone kinda waiting.

I've also gotten feedback from folks at the track about having trophies and knowing what class is going to be the biggest so here is the opportunity for all those racers at the Diamond to help out with racer count class count and to help folks like Taurean and Jamie who are going to be traveling from a good distance to make it to the race. It helps me with tee-shirt count and a host of other things as well. Great part is you don't have to pay if you don't want to just sign up.

Help us out please use rcsignup, it's quick it's easy and I'm offering prizes and cash to random folks who've signed up like Juwan who just won an unpainted P37 (you can pick it up any time Juwan)!!
