Timmie,

Don'r think it is a good idea for 8 minute mains for 17.5. Most guys are pushing the limit on temp's at 6 minutes.

Timmie,

I agree with Steve. You have a great thing going I wouldn't go overboard. 5 to 6 minutes max.

Ok 6 minutes will work too, Just thought people running 17.5 might like a longer race to break out of the norm. Since lipos came out I never figured out why races didn't get longer. So I just bought a nitro car

On a side note, when I practice with 17.5 I'll go 10 min easy no problem. And I practice like I'm racing. At the Tamiya Nats, 17.5 was 8 minutes. People that had motors get hot just geared down or turned their speedo timing down There is some strategy involved.

Thanks for the input. Anything else just let me know:0)

We run 8 and 10 minutes on the Cup cars here w/ no motor issues and VTA is 21.5 and 10.5 at some tracks here and they are also 8 minutes. Our Short Course Brushless is 8 minutes as well. We've tested 5400 lipo in Shortcourse w/ a 13.5 and got 24 minutes before the driver gave up, pack had 23% remaning according to my Hyperion.

After running 30+ minute nitro heats where you actually have a chance to win because of strategy and attrition it almost seems like longer mains should be what we should be shooting for in electric to reinvograte the class and actually slow things down a bit. I can't count the number of times the underdog has come back to win in nitro just because they were consistent and steady vs the blindingly fast guy who tore his/her car up.

This is just me sharing my opinion , obviously not everyone agrees but again think about the state that electric touring is in now and lets see if we can find ways to spice things up and make it a little less about the fastest lap and more about fun.

Everyone out there that is wanting to come down for the big race, but not quite sure yet...please sign up anyway! That way I can have a better gauge of the scheduling, and also because I'm going to get a guy to come out and bbq a pig on Saturday Depending on how many people come, depends on how large of a pig I got to buy. Left overs is good, not enough is bad.

And if you all have never had North Carolina BBQ, we call it a "pig pickin" you have no idea what you've been missing out on!

Yes there is a chance, I've been asked a couple times about this. I'll be bringing a coupel 1/8 scale racers with me, but it will really depend on track size and layout for the 1/8 guys/gals and whether they want to drive it. I've heard the track is a little tight for 1/8, but then again I've heard the same thing about the Blue Diamond and it has 16 to 20' lanes with 235' back straight so to each their own . I say bring 'em out and lets see what we can get done.

Timmie will there be Friday practice? and does the track have lights?
