With the addition of Jeremy Cupps to the team at Mike's Hobby, you guys are looking good! His on-road experience plus years in the industry will really put that place over-the-top. Good luck to you Jeremy and we'll miss you up here in North Texas.

How is traction and tire wear with the new surface?

Woodlands Racer 09-29-2009 01:19 PM

Brad,
Intitially, traction was very good right after the job was completed. When we got back from Nat's, we had two weeks of solid rain (something everyday) and we are still getting some every few days. All of the rain has washed a bit of the traction away but it came back nicely this past weekend during our two day SWCS race. As for tire wear, I did not hear anyone really complain about any excessive wear. Fact is I ran 35F/37R on the 1/8th scale and got around .5mm per 5 mins and only 4mm wear in a 30 min main.

We hope to see you for the GCGP in NOV.
Roger

The traction and tire wear was excellent. Like Roger said, with the rains, the traction kind of went away and they actually had to lightly spray some VHT on the track to help bring the traction back up. Once we started to put the rubber back in the groove, traction wasn't an issue. For touring car, which I raced, I used just two sets of tires the entire weekend (one set for Saturday, one set for Sunday). Tire wear was very minimal (could have used Saturday's set on Sunday but just wanted to use some fresh tires for the main). You have to come and run on the new track, you will not be disappointed.

The traction is their the track was just dirty, we will have the track fully preped before practice for this race. Tire wear has not been a issue, with the renovations that are ongoing i think everyone will enjoy this race!
