Default F1 on Thursday night

Few of the local F1 racers came out to run their cars last night. We had a F-109, F103, F104 X1, and my EXO104 all running silver cans. Also, we had a quick discussion about the rule changes that were recently proposed. All were in favor of adding/including a 21.5 BL powerplant to the existing rules. Some of us are planning to run the 21.5 setup starting next week. Hopefully, we'll be able to attract some new racers (noobs and veterans) for some open wheel F1 action.

Set up the F1 with 21.5 today and only see about 1 second faster. straight line speed is close. the advantage i see is it dont drop off from heat and has more power coming out of the turns.

That's good to hear!! Also, with the BL motor I would think that the car would be a little smoother as you roll on and off power. My EXO104 will have a Speed Passion 21.5 BL motor and Tekin RS (Blinky mode) for Thursday night. If I get my parts in time I'll also have a special surprise for the F103/f-109 guys.

By the end of the night with traction coming up and me getting more comfortable with the car, I was down to 14.2. Randy placed 2nd in the main with his X and a silver can, his fast lap was 15.4 and i'm sure he had more with the setup because he just finished building it and missed the first round. I changed my setup completely from the time I arrived till I left I had changed everything from damper fluid to all spring rates and the car really became very easy to drive. When I put my 21.5 in this morning I used the same gear that i was using on my silver can and my times were right in line with thursday night racing, so I think the brushless setup and silver can setup are very close. Very good time hanging with the guys from glen bernie and having mr. underhill pick on me all day, but its all in fun and thats what we had today. see everyone next week.

Default coming up

We are looking forward to the 2011 holiday season!
We will be holding a black Friday race, Nov. 25th. Racing will not start until 6:30pm, so you can spend the day shopping and with family. It will be the normal format of 3 heats and a main at $10 a class.
11-19-2011 will not only be week 8 of the fall points series, but will also be our can food drive. You will get a dollar off the entry fee per can food you donate. If you bring in 15 cans of food, your race is free. All of the can food donated will be going to the Beacon House, located at 319 South Street in downtown Frederick. We want to help as many local family's as we can have something good to eat this holiday season.
12-10-2011 will be our "Toys For Tots" race. $15 and a toy will get you unlimited classes. $25 and no toy will get you unlimited classes. All the money collected will be used to purchase more toys to be given to the local Marines who run the program. Collection boxes will be placed in the front of the store for general donations. (To receive the race day discount, your unwrapped toy must be presented when you register to race.)

Couldn't get up there this last weekend - we had nasty weather in the Damascus area. Really looking forward to this weekend for GT Spec!

Default Brushed vs. Brushless -

I'm enjoying the dialogue on the brushed vs. brushless. I see all the various points of view. I like the idea of following National race classes so that you can practice locally for what you might want to eventually run at a National race.

I also understand having affordable classes to ensure that new racers can afford to get started. I know I'm always trying different classes to see what I enjoy running, and there are so many options. This series I'm trying to concentrate on just one class for consistency. The GT Spec class is a great class for learning how to set up a chassis. I've chosen the TB-03 chassis so I can get time on it in anticipation of the 2012 TCS series.

So I think it is important to offer both silver can and brushless classes that can lead to regional and national racing. I think that opens more possibilities to the racers at the "C".

Just my thoughts.
