Deal with it, this is new technology IF it is faster than it's only by tiny bits (same as a Kimodo is a tiny bit faster than a Reedy quad mag). Very good point. If its supposed to be a Spec class, then I guess the KD or Chameleon are the only motors everyone should be running. They are the only legal SPEC19 motors. |

I raced at BC this past weekend....brushed and brushless together. I have to say, since my car was crap and I got to WATCH the A-Main, that the difference between brushed and brushless goes something like this...and this is my point of view, off the track, watching the day's fastest cars. 1. With brushed, you car has to be good to carry good cornerspeed to keep up with the brushless motors. 2. You car can be crap but still be 'good' because you have the power to yank a 'good' car off the corners. 3. Top end, about the same...depending on the line you get going onto the straights. Now, I'm going to use examples....sorry to those that I may 'offend'. This is not the intention but just my observation. Fred TQ's. His car is pretty good going around the track, I'm guessing. Didn't see it, I was in his qualifier....and I was struggling with my hooptie. Main comes around, and I get to watch. He breaks away pretty fast. Car looks pretty good, but parks a little in the corners. The fact that he has TONS more rip out of the corners allows his car to not HAVE to be perfect.....there were other cars on the track that appeared to be much better around the track, but would get yarded as soon as they left the corner. So, again, in my opinion (and from my track-side observation), the brushless DO have a lot more power, allowing you to have a not-so-perfect car and still be able to trounce the field. 3 more things and I'm done. 1) This is not a burn or Fred. He's been down practicing and getting better. But his car was not the best one on the track, even though it did win pretty easily. 2) People say brushed and brushless are equal. If the brushless has TONS more torque off the line, how can they be equal? You need an excellent car (with a brushed motor) to beat an ok car with a brushless. 3) I've ordered my brushless motor. I, personally, don't think they are equal. I agree they should be separate classes. And, if you're upset because people feel this way, tough. People feel that others should 'motor-up' to the new brushless systems....how come you can 'motor-down' to what this class is SUPPOSED to be....what it started OUT to be....a SPEC class!!! Mixing brushed and brushless does NOT make it a spec class. Really getting tired of this conversation. It's getting old....either way you look at it. And, EVERYONE, please watch what you say to others. If this starts getting to out of hand with name calling, etc, this thread will be shut down. Not true. This was proved at socal and had been for the past several weeks. I'm not the only person running BL and those that ran it this past Sat got dealt with by Derek. Tony's car was not that good nor was Carls or Calvin's and they were never in contention for TQ or the win. My car was VERY good all day...I was told that even Bob thought this and Dawson even commented on it. I have the same rip with my CP19T. Just ask Wally and Edgar who asked me if I was running a handwound arm when I last ran it many weeks ago. You ask why can't we change to BR 1) BL makes life so much easier it gives us the ability to focus on driving and chassis tuning and not motors. With BL 19T I can get atleast 3 runs off a single charge...that's more time to test setup changes...more time to learn the track...easier on the wallet for some. I tune my cars to rip, that's part of my drivng style. Case is point Barry drove my car on this past Tuesday. He commented on how I had no deadband...I like it that way, he doesn't. |
I race 1/8 on-road but want to get into electric, can someone reccomend a good touring car? Brushless system? :deathstar Tanks

Really, a good car is like saying "chevy or ford". Despite all the rumors, it comes down to what you have fun with, and what you can find parts for. Every car you can find parts for online, but do you want to deal online? Do you want to find something local? Do you want to buy used? Lots of great deals on here, along with peopel who sell jsut about every spare part with their deal. =) just do your homework on who the seller is. I would say, Yokomo, Assc, Losi, Xray... choose and you can't go wrong really. Just have fun... and win! I know nothing about brushless.. so can't help you there... |
Looks like the SWR Cup is back in full effect!!! And what do you know Billy is allowing the 13.5 in stock and the 10.5 in 19T!!! Here's another race director who recongnizes what we are saying to be true. But I guess Billy Bowerman (2007 ROAR Competition Director, owner of Speedworld Raceway) or Ruben Benitez (owner of Stockton RC) doesn't know what they are doing. That's 2 big races so far this year that is adopting the technology. The future is
NOW!!!! NWCC: 5 years running allowed BL in the stock and 19T classes. SWR CUP: 7 years running allowing BL in the stock and 19T classes. SWR Cup 2007 Flier |
