Default Ride Height

Can someone answer this for me. Minimum ride height is 5MM according to USVTA rules, does this include body shell or chassis only?

I think I asked the same question in the first VTA thread and the answer I got was everything needs to be 5mm, chassis and everypart of the body.

To this end, we made a "wand" at our track for the teck station. It is an old stripped spur gear that measures 5mm think. We drilled a hole in the side and glued a 2mm carbon rod in the hole. On tech days we just place the car on the board and confirm that it meets minimum ride height by sliding the wand under the chassis.

At the USVTA event last weekend at Summit, they had a long ruler like piece of 5MM plexiglas. Probably easy to get from your local plastics dealer. To them, that would be scrap. I dont think they'd even charge for it.

The tech guy checked the mid point of the chassis of course, but also the nose area. The rule is 5mm ready to race. It was quick and easy. They had 5mm for USGT too.

I moved my question to the USVTA discussion thread.

I wonder how that paint would hold up on the lexan body under racing condition?

Bigtee, Im gonna find out today racing at the track. Ive used this paint on automotive applications in the past with great results. I painted and Shoo Gooed the body on Tuesday. Ill let you guys know tonight after I race the car. I race a fifth scale Losi 5t, so I kinda got pissed off at having to buy 4 cans of Pactra paint for the inside of the body. This paint is in an 11 ounce can for 6 dollars. I did bend the side panels of the car and they didnt crack. Ill post the results tonight.

Good news, I just got back from racing. I cracked the front fender, but zero problems with the paint! Held up just as good as the Pactra.

Great photos. Great way to showcase how how cool these cars look.

- How big is the oval track in the 1st photo?

- I really like the red/white/black (or dark blue) 'Cuda paint scheme. I might have to borrow that scheme on the next one I paint.

- Is the red/white car a Javelin? If so, looks like a nice 2-tone paint scheme. If you have any more pics of that car, please post them. It is always nice to see different Javelin schemes.

I don't remember the exact dimensions of the oval track (I'll try to find them) but this pic will give you the best idea on size. Almost 30 degrees of banking. We run breakout classes of 7 second NASCAR and 8 second NASTRUCK.

The color is black. It looks good in person too!

It is a Javelin. More people took pics that day so once I see them posted I'll share them here.

Not period-correct, but my '66 Mustang Coupe matches the rest of my racing livery. This color scheme has earned the nickname "Tony the Tiger" at our local tracks. LOL. I love Frosted Flakes and all, but it wasn't intentional. Obviously, I still need to raise the body posts to meet the 5 mm min. I also have a Tamiya molded driver to stick in there.

Hey RJ, I love the Texas license plates! Did you print those yourself?
