wes - thank you, those are killer. nobody ever posts picts of the rear of their bodies. seeing them now, i have some ideas. almost the same as headlights, just backed with red instead of chrome or silver. thank you again.

anyone else?

i won't be back at my paint table for a couple of days, but when i get back i will post what i tried.

yea what you can do is if you paint a bulb like i do you could do a real thin candy red and then put chrome behind that make them pop out like crazy like soemone actually turned them on.... mine is faspearl red and do that a little when the light hits them but that picture is a little odd with the lighting..

Are you guys painting the lights on the outside of the car? or inside before you start with the rest of the car?

Inside, and usually the step before the surrounding stuff for me.

always inside. or else they are gone first time you hit the wall.

i always start with the lights, because i use chrome to back with. if you leave chrome as the last coat of paint, it will rub off every time you clean the inside of the body. laying laquer over chrome will dull it some, but the effect is still there.

Based on my experience, chrome shouldn't ever be backed with a lacquer. In fact, alclad and spazstix specifically say, or else used to say that you should only back it with aclylic black paint like createx or fascolor. It also does not bond especially well, so it sometimes is advantageous to paint it as the final step so that you aren't lifting masking right next to it which stands a chance of lifting some chrome off.
