I just finished this 1/8th scale buggy for a racing buddy. He loves the RWB patriotic theme...who doesn't! I used Faskcolor paints, Fasmask and some vinyl masks for the stars. You can see there's a truck body too that is painted to match. I've got several more to do for him, all in this theme. These colors look great on the track!

I'm a little concerned about the rear spoiler. Its a soft plastic which is really durable, but I don't know how the paint is going to do on adhesion. I clear coated it with Crystal Clear. Hopefully that will help.

Would it be difficult for an experienced painter (like most of you) to do carbon fiber across the entire span of a 1/8 buggy body? Such that the appearance was a body made of carbon fiber with designs on top. I'm wondering if the pattern is difficult to keep "in sync," pattern-wise, across a large span? Maybe they make stencils that large, I don't know

If anyone has seen a body painted with carbon fiber as the base "color" I'd love to see it. Been through about 30 pages of this thread and haven't seen one yet.

Thanks!

Joey

Yes its been done by many painters, do it using the traditional methods it is quite hard and time consuming to do very large areas with lots of bends and twists in the lexan like a buggy body. It's slightly easier to do for those who can cut vinyl but that is still a very time consuming job to weed the mask prior to painting. All the black area of this TC body I painted is CF, although its hard to see in this pic/lighting.

Did this one over Labor Day weekend. He wants to create a scale Lowrider look and told me to "pimp it out." OK! He also gave me the colors. The body was missing any window masks or exterior protective layer. So, I had to just use Fasmask on the inside and be careful with the outside.

Do they make a miniature air lift system?
