Speedo, not to butt in, but you do need more psi for Createx. To me it's the same for Parma, but I couldn't shoot either of them at 20 lbs. At least 35 to 40, and I think the manufacturers recommend an even higher pressure. It's easier to clean it out at higher pressures also...

Thanks futureal, I just read it, very informative and well done HauntedMyst!

What kind of airbrush are you guys using? I just can't seem to get the fine fades with anything above 20, and I see you guys have some really find ones. I agree that the paint sprays better at 40psi, but I find the spray pattern is way too wide.
The problem with that createx was that it was a 16oz bottle, so everything had settled to the bottom and I hadn't shaken it enough.
Thanks,
Speedo

I use Iwata and Tamiya Airbrushes and they all are dual action airbrushes...it sounds like you are using a single action brush and basically for a single action aiorbrush, you are limited to what gradations and finelines a dual action can do.
If you are using a dual action, stick with the 40psi and use your finger control to create FINE LINES. As you know, the further back you pull on th trigger, the wider the spray, therfore, teh closer you are to the front with the trigger with maximum air pressuer(pressing down all the way with the trigger), teh finer the line. Remember, you ALWAYS want to have maximum air pressure or you will create tip buildup much faster than normal.
Stick with it and EXPERIMENT...no one taught me as much about this with out playing around with it. Yiou could come out with the latest effect!

No, I have the Iwata eclipse CS, dual action. I tried, and experimented a little up around 40PSI, but I still like 20 better. Thanks for your help though

Speedo- I'm using an Iwata also, forget the model no... Eclipse BCS(?), but it's a gravity fed brush (with a covered cup on top). When I want to spray larger areas I might back the needle out a hair from the end and remove the needle protector shield. Regarding the air pressure thing with Parma, you may feel more comfortable in controlling the airbrush at 20, but your control over detail will improve as charlie_b noted if you use a higher pressure and use your finger to control the amount of paint which sprays out. Like driving a mod motor- gotta use that throttle finger more delicately!

Probably the CS, like I have...Unless it has the cup on the side, I think that is the BCS. I'm definately not pulling the trigger all the way back, not even at 20, just until I get the spray width I want.

I got the same brush as kevink2 for christmas. I had been using the pasche(sp) and the Aztec. I decided to get a better brush since I was starting to do more and more bodies for friends and what not. What I feel was my best work to date I don't have a picture of. The body was raced a couple of times and it's damaged now but I will still get a pic of it and post it. You guys will be able to picture it in your head of what it looked like before the accident
TO ALL- What do you guys do when you get designers block? I don't really like copying other people's designs but sometimes my creativity goes away. I haven't painted nearly as many bodies as Charlie but I'm sort of tapped. I also try not to paint the same body twice(even for friends who want a signature job) Any suggestions are more than welcomed.

Killer Charlie!!
Stlnlst: Hah, I try not to do the same thing twice also lately, trying to stretch my horizons. The Iwata is an awesome brush, and not too expensive. Try checking out other art forms for creative motivation.
